Rifle Scopes Superior strap for Leica Geovid.

I am going to finally break down and buy a set of Bino buddies for my Leica Geovid 8x42s.

I see online that Leica offers a "slide and Flex" type system. Is this the same as the BB just rebadged? Or is it a better system?

Are there better options out there? I want something that will keep the binos secure to my chest when moving, drawing a bow or shooting. And comfortable.

Have you tried a Bino Buddy or similar? They tend to be a love it or hate it type thing. A lot of folks don't like the fuss of taking them on/off ect and also complain about them feeling "restrictive".

I've used one and went back to a regular strap..I found the binobuddy system worked well in warm weather when you were only wearing a shirt, but was a PIA in the winter when wearing bulky clothing.

Plus, I bought a buttpack with shoulder harness that has a built in bino buddy system.

Basically on the front of the shoulder straps, about breast pocket height, are sewn two snap links, each on a short length of elastic. On my Binos I added a couple of short loops of para cord (about 3"?)where the straps normally fix too..

Using these loops, via the harness snap hooks, its dead easy to take the bino's on and off, although there is of course enough "give" in the elastic elastic and paracord loops to lift them to your eyes as per a normal bino buddy.

I usually also carry a short length of 1 1/2" webbing with snap hooks each end to use as a plain strap should I want to carry the binos when I am not wearing the buttpack...

Thanks Pete. I dont like anything too restrictive, but definitely want something that will keep the Geovids tighter to my chest.

May look at the badlands, or bushnell bino buddies that are out now. I have the original crooked horn bino buddy and the badlands. I use the bino buddy in early season when I am worried about less bulk, but they don't hold in place that well. As a matter of fact I think you would hate them with something as heavy as the geovids, since my 8x42 leupolds bounce all over the place if I walk at a decent speed.

The badlands is pretty bulky, and you have to open and close it every time you want to look through you binos. That being said it does have a cool magnet that keeps it closed so it is quiet and takes minimal movement. It has a bulkier chest harness that has not very strechy straps, so when the binos are in the cover,they are solid in place. When you open and pull out your binos they are attached with 2 short sections of para cord. So you can let them hang out of the carrier if you want, but they will move around even more than the original bino buddy if you dont put them back in the carrier.

I haven't ever used the bushnell, but it looks like it would be more secure than the original bino buddy. It has a pretty large heavy duty harness and appears to hold the bino's in place well on the people I have seen using them on tv. Like I said though, I have no first hand experience and that is simply speculation.

The Leica is the Crooked Horn, same as the Vortex, Pentax, Zeiss and Swarovski one. All the same with a different hot stamp in the leather patch on the back

Here's what I use. It's an IPI Bino Manager strap and a Crooked Horn Bino Shield that were sewn together. It works pretty good, but I still use my factory lens covers.

I like this system over a regular bino harness system not only because it offers additional protection from dust, water, etc., but also because the binos don't bounce when they're tucked in the pouch and there's no tension pulling your binos down when viewing through them because the only attachment point is the strap over your shoulders. Hope that makes sense.

Also, no wise-ass comments about the model!..

Also wanted to add, don't buy the Badlands system if you plan on using a GPS because the magnets that hold the lid closed will mess with it.

That is a fantastic idea. I like the 4 point bino straps but they are either too loose so you can hold up the binos easily or tight enough to keep them from flopping, but a pain in the as to hold up the binos for a long time.
