Support Bag for Field Use - Team Sniper Endurance Challenge

I have a team “sniper” endurance challenge coming up. “12 Hundo in Hondo” outside of San Antonio, TX. I am putting my gear list together and trying to decide on a good “lighter” main support bag.

I normally use a Game Changer in PRS/NRL style matches. It’s GREAT. Super solid and easy to use. The down side is that is weights 6 lbs. Not something I want to lug 6 miles and maybe use.

Anyone have another bag they recommend? Something lighter but still solid? Something I could use on a barricade or tree limb?

Empty the game changer, then fill it with dirt or sand at your firing position. Empty it back out when you need to move to the next place

@Cold_Bore_88 give me a holler. I can get the Comanche as light as 1.6 lbs. it’s still stabilizes, flows and locks the way it should.

Our recon bag with standard fill is about 4.5lbs and can be barely over 1lb with light fill. The rectangle shape makes it easy to pack up and deal with too. This was formerly known as the Comp Bag but after feedback from buyers we changed it to Recon to reflect how capable it is of in-the-field, real world use. IMO it’s not practical at all to carry a game changer out in the field. Not only because if weight but because of shape. The Recon bag can be strapped to the back or the top of a pack and ride along with a very small footprint.

I use a Wiebad Tac Pad for field stuff. Right at a pound and its highly versatile for field stuff where its a lot more natural terrain obstacles than man made barricades.

I’ll second what @Precision Underground said. The newly dubbed Recon bag is money. If I had one of those back when I was humping an M24, M110, and the lazerbeam XM2010 my life would have been complete.

You truly get so much versatility with the Recon bag. It’s really a solid do all bag from my perspective. The next best thing would be the ELR Strapped. Having the ability to strap it to the rifle is ingenious.

You can use it on the bench, a tree, with bipods, without bipods, on a gun turret, hood of a vehicle, flat prone Hawkins style, etc. by far my favorite piece of kit. The bag is also excellent when firing utilizing buddy support positions as well as side saddle.

I cut out the stitching on my pint-sized game changer and added velcro. Then carried a little plastic shovel and filled it with sand. I also sewed an additional bag out of duck cloth (like corn hole bags) and filled it with small polystyrene pellets. It weighed almost nothing but worked very well for what it was.

Mini fortun cookie %100. Been using mine for comps and all actual field use if I have to hump anywhere. I was planning on using mine for the 12 hundo but I have to go out of town for work the rest of the month

6 miles isn’t very far. I’ve seen guys lug around game changers on 25-30mile ruck matches. If your pack+rifle rifle weighs over 65/70lbs I could see cutting the weight, but anything under 65 lbs I would bring whatever gear you shoot best with. The last ruck match I shot, the Bushnell Elite Tactical Sniper Match, I brought my ColeTac backbone bag system and a rear bag and it was fantastic. We did a little over 21 miles. At the end of the day it’s a shooting competition. You’re gonna be tired of the rucking whether you have that extra 5lbs or not. Might as well shoot the best you can.
