Hoping to get some feedback from the Hide on support hand/rear bag. I’m still relatively new and want to make sure I am applying the proper fundamentals.

When using rear bag is it best to rest the rifle on the bag, the webbing of your hand (between thumb and finger), grip a bag rider, or really just 100% personal preference. Based on online content and the varying information it seems to me to really be personal preference but I’m hoping to get some feedback from some seasoned shooters.

Thanks in advance.

I found this video to be very helpful on "how" to use a rear bag. Chris goes thru the main few ways people seem to use support bags and the results he got on target with them.

As for the bag...yeah, he uses a game changer as (and I'm guessing why here) as a NRL gamer who has to carry all his stuff, perhaps this is more versatile for that type of shooting. Use it as a rear bag, throw it on a tripod, toss it over some rocks and shoot, etc.

Personally, I'd recommend either The Answer from our own @Enough Said (Marc Taylor)

or Precision Underground bags

Remember...you can't be too fat or have too many rest bags lol

Thanks! Not sure how I hadn’t come across this one.

So I’ve been working towards the bridge technique ( Phil Velayo has some good vids on this) but am still not 100% on how the bag is then applied. Phil says he’s using it to “fill the space” which based on his and this video I guess means positioning under the rifle but not smooshing it in 🤷

I had come across a video Frank did where he said the point of contact should always be the hand not the bag but I guess that’s where personal preference comes in.

We learned in Frank and Mark's class that your three lower fingers go through the strap and adjust the pressure on the sides of the bag. Your thumb and index finger pinch the top of the ears of the bag to control the rifle butt/bag rider and keep it from moving.
