Suppressed M40A3/5???

Re: Suppressed M40A3/5???

I have two M40A3's. Both were built by DD Ross. He does great metal work and turns out a superior product. He is however hard to get a hold of. My friend built a M40A5 with DD Ross and he is very happy with it. The only thing he said that he would do different is not use the bottom Badger metal. The mag to lower fit is sloppy at best. There is a couple of other companies out there that make a lower metal that is superior in fit. They also offer the lower in aluminum and steel. The M40's that I have seen all shoot very well. Be warned though it is a custom rifle and you will pay accordingly. ($3,500-4,000)

Just my 2 cents, but the only time iv'e ever had a problem with my badger m5 was because of a poor installation. Not because of the product......

Re: Suppressed M40A3/5???

I have a GA Precision M40A3 that I had threaded for a Gemtech HVT. It is an outstanding rifle and can on any day shoot better than the person behind it. It is heavy though and you have to take that into consideration. I don't think that you will be doing any standing shooting with it anytime soon. But, as a prone or laid on something rifle the M40A3 can't be beat. I would recommend it as a build rifle. I don't have the IOR on it anymore as I changed to a Vortex Razor.

Re: Suppressed M40A3/5???

If it's the Schneider barrel, the correct barrel for the M40A3 and M40A5, it is 1/12 twist. Any bullet over 175 grains in this barrel will not stabilize as well. Using Subsonic .308, let's say EBR 180gr Thumper for instance, might be a problem. I mention this because some folks with silencers on this 1/12 barrel might be tempted to try subsonic ammo.

On the Badger BDM issue; I haven't heard of any concens or complaints from the USMC about this. Anyone hear anything from the USMC?
