Suppressors Suppressor question

This is my first suppressor, and I am wondering if this is common for all suppressors. When I make the first shot (cold bore or ambient temp) the bullet impacts 1"- 1-1/2" to the left of my aiming point. Then the next four rounds are touching and right where I was aiming. I've done this several times over the past couple of weeks, and each time I get the same results. Temps at the range have been 70-80 degrees. The rifle is a Tikka CTR stainless 20" barrel, with a Mac Brothers suppressor. Prior to, I was shooting this rifle with a Little Bastard brake, and all 5 rounds generally are in a .5 group at 100yd. Should I zero the optic (Vortex Razor 2, 4.5x27) for the cold bore, or for the group? This is frustrating on longer targets. Thank you and appreciate advice.

no such thing as cold bore........only a cold shooter. is it really off or are you readjusting and now that youve got the first round out and your mind is no longer cold you are able to control the rifle? IDK the answer, just food for thought.

This is happens depending on the cans construction as the can is filled with expansion gases. Usually it is associated with first round pop too but not necessarily. After the first shot, the can is completely deprived of normal air. The movement of the gasses changes between the 1st and second 2nd shot can can influence when that bullet leaves the can

For giggles, shoot with the can on for a while, get the can and the barrel warm, can filled with propellant gas, then stop shooting. Let everything cool down, remove the bolt and blow through the action to clear out the gas in the can. Once it's good and cool, start shooting again. I'd be willing to bet you'll experience the same thing all over again. I love shooting with cans, but the "cold can shift" is maddening.

I’ve never experienced that with my cans. TBAC Ultra 7 and 30P-1 on various rifles. All the same POI for 5 & 10 shot groups and usually in the 5/8 MOA center-to-center group size range with factory ammo.

If it consistantly does that at the beginning of every session, write it down and live with it, or call the mfg and see what they say. If its a predictable change and only lasts for one shot, I’d consider it a cold bore/frp dope. If it changes or is unpredictable, definitely would be trying to get some warranty action going.

Yes, I do enjoy shooting with the can and will do some further testing. That's what is happening. Start out out by threading on the can and the first POI is to the left of my intended POI, and the next four hit the intended POI. I bought this titanium can from Dakota Silencer specifically for use on the Tikka for predator hunting. I suspect I should zero for the first shot.....and then make a mental note of the shift that happens on the following shots.
