Anyone own this light? Surefire E2D LED Defender

I have the orginal 6P, with the non-led light but was looking for somehting new....is LED really as good as the original lights. my 6P seems blinding (not compared to those spot lights with millions of candle power but for a hand held light).

If you like your incandescent 6P, you'll be amazed at the LED. No, they aren't as good, they are leaps and bounds better. More efficient, stronger, last longer and are much brighter. There is no drawback to LED for personal use lights. Get the LED and you'll never look back!

Re: Surefire E2D LED Defender

I say LED all the way now. After getting a new dual-led Surefire it's hands down better than my original by far. I even bought an LED conversion head for another Surefire I have, well worth it to me.

Re: Surefire E2D LED Defender

i guess i was hesitant since my older led lights didnt really focus the beam well, but it sounds like they've figured out that problem.

Re: Surefire E2D LED Defender

I have the E2L Outdoorsman, which you could say is the weaker version of the E2D. LED is superior, and Surefire definitely makes a good product.

Re: Surefire E2D LED Defender

I have the incandescant E2D and it's a really good solid torch... If you throw in the LED, it'll be KICK ARSE.

10 hours over 2 hours run time is always a win.

Oooohh you can convert them?

I have what looks like an early model weapon-strappable light, and a metal cased Surefire - love to get them both to LED...they seem so unreliable with incandescant.

You CAN convert them, but for the cost of the replacement head, you might as well spend twenty or thirty dollars more and get the complete light.

I carried the original E2D for about four years, and just recently upgraded to the E2D LED last month, after much nagging and mockery from LED-equipped co-workers.

Yeah, it's definitely better in every regard.

My one and only gripe about the LED model is that the LED head is slightly bulkier, with smaller strike bezeling (is that a word?) than the original. For carry using the pocket clip in a cargo pocket, the newer model doesn't quite fit underneath the pocket flap. All in all, an acceptable tradeoff for a much brighter beam, twice the runtime, and the ability to click over to an extremely long-lasting low power mode.

+1. Longer runtime, higher lumens, whiter light. Whats not to like. I got rid of all my old SF's and have been replacing them with LED's. You don't have to spend $200 as even the lowest priced SF LED's are incredible lights.

Re: Surefire E2D LED Defender

I know it's not a Surefire but I went to REI yesterday and they had a flashlight very similar to the defender. Fenix TK 15.... 337 lumens, 1 hour 50 minutes, 143 lumens, 6 hours 25 minutes, 47 lumens, 23 hours, 5 lumens, 152 hours!

Re: Surefire E2D LED Defender

I have quite a few surefire lights and the E2D LED is one of my favorites. I've given one to my girlfriend and mom as they are nice and compact and a good defensive light.

Another favorite is the P2X Fury. Nice small 500 lumen light.
