Hello,

Came home from shooting today and converted my CZ Shadow 2 to back to DA/SA. Before disassembling the gun, I took my light off the rail (duh), then proceeded to convert it back. After putting the gun back together, I functioned check everything, including the light. I mounted the light on the gun and flip the thumb switch to make it shine, annnnnnd nothing happened. Changed batteries, nothing. Check batteries in my handheld light, all good. Ok, so not a battery issue. Went to Surefire's FAQ section and it stated to clean the internal springs, o-rings, and such inside the light. Cleaned everything that I could see (not that there was hardly anything to clean), put batteries back in and no change.

Just left a voicemail with their customer service department. Pretty bummed, this is my EDC gun and all my holsters index off the light. I suppose even the almighty Surefire can fail.

Has this ever happened to anyone's x300? If so, how did you fix it? I really do not want to have to send my light off, as that would only leave my with a G26 and a S&W 64-3 for carry, neither of which are as capable as my S2.

I haven’t had one not come on, but I did shoot one enough that the lens came loose. Surefire fixed it relatively quickly, but not lightning fast. Anything and everything can break. Even the best can fail sometimes. That’s why anything that is important- you need at least 2. I have 4 x300s.

I had this happen to mine in 2017 and it’s the “controller board?” that went out. It was dead as a door nail. Got an RMA and sent it back. Received it back a couple weeks later and good as new. Surefires CS was excellent.

I had one get damaged while shooting and they will take care of you. Their warranty is good even if you are out of warranty. They seem a bit slow but in the end it is worth it. You definitely need to send them an email and call. They weren’t the greatest at communicating when I had an issue. They will most likely send you a return label and then the wait begins.
If you are relying on only one light for EDC you are wrong. Electronics can and will fail at the least expected moments and you should always have a backup.
