My wife got me a 591 for Christmas! How much better can it get!

Anyways thought I would ask you guys if it is coated in anything? I don't think it is, but just making sure one way or the other. Also what would you guys do with the bolt? Can you get it hard chromed or anything for extra durability? What all can you hard chrome?

Thanks,
Kyle

Just get it Cerakoted in whatever color you want. The Cerakote on the bolt will wear in time but the bolt has already enhanced durability because it is ion nitrided. The nitride is very hard but the bolt still can rust. At a later date if you wear most of the finish off the receiver, you can send it back in and get it recoated and it will look like new.

If hard chrome is what you want, you can call Surgeon and see if they have any hard chrome bolts. Then you could send the entire action off somewhere to get it coated.

You could also look at NP3 if you want something shiny.

Where are you in OK? Surgeon may not be too far away. Get the thing chambered and then send it to Matt at Surgeon for some coating. Check with Surgeon on pricing.

The bolt is already coated with ion something and it's already spiral fluted, IMHO your wasting your money on doing more to it.
