Hey guys,

I am looking for a rugged spotter with reticle. Buy once cry once.
I narrowed it down to those two.

Has anyone compared both and could let me know about it?

Particularly interested in differences between the Swaro 65 vs 80, the ruggedness goes to Hensoldt including the reticle.

My main problem is the Hensoldt is not available over here in germany anymore. Couldnt find any at least. Not even used. Now i am thinking about getting a used one from the hide, sometimes they pop up here and there. Is there any ITAR regulation which could cause problems?

In need for an alternative, i ended up with the idea of a Swaro spotter....

The glass quality with swarovski seems to be extraordinary. As mentioned above, maybe there is a recommendation between the Swaro 65/80 aswell. Reticle is well...not optimal to say at least.

Spotter will be used for shooting up to 2000m. Main use between 400-1600m.

I had a look at all threads available on the hide, maybe there are some more insights to gain.

Best regards

Daniel

The only one I know of Swarovski with ret is the STR 80. And EO has both in moa or MRAD in stock. I’d snag one asap from them if your serious of getting one soon. As these spotters has been sold out everywhere for awhile. Well for as a complete set anyways. I always wanted one but ended up with a BTX. Much comfortable for me spotting. Then my recent buy was a swaro 14x52 pure. As logging that btx in my range box was getting annoying cause it’s a bulky bitch. I never looked through a STR before. But I’m pretty sure it’s top notch and buy once cry once kinda spotter with a ret.

Buy the Swaro STR80. I’ve owned a STR 80, BTX 115, & I currently have a STX 65 plus Vector X 12. The STR 80 is heavy, but nothing compared to the BTX 115. You can turn off the reticle, which is really nice. The larger objective of the 80 vs 65 is better IMHO, & you can change out the eyepiece for a wider FOV. The Swaro would still have warranty service as well. I have used the STR80 to shoot steel at 1000y. I’ve attending LR classes years ago, where a Hensoldt was used out to 1000y. It was great.

If you gotta have a reticle, another vote for the STR80. I've owned that one, STX95, TSN-99, and the Hendsolt. Glass is fantastic in all of them, but the ability to turn the reticle off in the STR80 makes it the winner.

Good morning,

I've been using an STR for years, I like the hensoldt, but I liked the Swarovski. I enjoy being able to turn that reticle on and off and adjust the reticle brightness, i really like the helical focus wheel in the middle of the scope, it works better when wearing gloves. I've not been gentle with mine and it's held up fine.
