Rifle Scopes SWFA Scopes

Just curious, why is everyone unloading their SWFA scopes? I was interested in purchasing one as it appeared that they received good marks for quality and use. However, now it seems like there are so many for sale, I am leaning more towards other brands.

A lot of people got in on the Facebook sale, which was a 5-20 and their new 1-6 for just over 1500. Not everyone needed both of the scopes, so many are selling one of the pair.

There are a LOT of SWFA scopes floating around and I don't think that the number for sale is really disproportionate when compared with other scopes (i.e. - Leupold, NF, etc.) that creep up for sale around these parts. Also, keep in mind that many people START with SWFA SS scopes and then once they have been at the long range precision game long enough, move up to NF, USO, Premier, S&B, etc. scopes and then sell their used scopes.

Also, you may be seeing a good many because of the deal that was offered a while back to get the higher end SWFA scopes for a significant amount off the usual price, as well as "package deals" with more than one scope. I have seen some that were bought under that deal that have now crept up for sale at closer to regular price or people selling off the "extra" scope from the package that they didn't need...nothing wrong with that per se...just an observation.

The SWFA scopes are well made and are excellent bargains for their price level. Have no worries!

Or some bought extra to bring their cost down on the one they intended to keep...

I have two. No complaints, likely to add to that number in the next year or so…

If I had the extra cash i woulda bought ten at the diacount. Good investment and return. Yet you still give someone a deal and they dont have to wait 6 months win win.

I am unloading two of them. The reason being is that I am unloading the rifles they sat on. I have a TRG that I never used and was taking up room in the safe and the other is a SAC 7mm-08 which I did load development on and haven't used it since. I have some bills I need to pay too so it just makes sense to unload things i am not using.

I bought an SWFA as a potential upgrade from a Vortex PST. One look at the reticle and I knew it would never work, especially with the reticle lit. Put it right back in the box and sold it the next day.

What did you not like about the reticle other than it being lit? I was thinking about putting one of these on my new Remington 700 sps tact.

They are great scopes with lifetime warranty - I wouldn't let the fact that you see them a lot for sale bother you. As stated there are a lot out there, especially in this type of community. If you search you'll see a ton of positive reviews.

there are also a lot of people like me who purchased them fro below the resale value. Something about knowing you can make a few hundred dollars on your scope if you put it up for sale motivates people to sell them and try something else even if they are basically happy.

I wouldn't worry about it, there are a lot more people who bought them who are not selling them, i have a couple and a few friends have them too and we are not selling them. they are great scopes and function perfectly, we have shot ours way past 1200 yds with zero problems.

I thought about unloading an IOR instead of selling my one of my SWFA scopes. However, the IOR is older and has ring marks on it. It's an okay scope and it's a lot heavier than the SWFAs. I decided to sell the SWFAs because they were in better condition, if the IOR was in better condition I would sell that and keep one of SWFA scopes I have for sale.

I decided to go with nightforce instead. Too many for sale and it sounds as though they will be backed up for a while as far as warranty work is concerned. Buy one, cry once! Thanks for all the replys.

Depending on model, you Nightforce may have been made in the same plant as the SS.

Personally I would consider a nightforce over a SWFA a large bump up in price. If I could afford a nightforce F1, I wouldn't have even considered the SWFA.
I agree with the buy once cry once but everyone has their own budget. For a $1000 scope it's tough to beat.

I thought I would use the one I bought but right now I don't have the funds for a rifle to mount it to. I'm going to be laid off for 6 weeks this fall. With his in mind, it doesn't make sense to have a brand new scope setting in the safe not being used.
