Hello
I am looking at getting my first nice scope and have decided on the swfa 3-15x42. It will be going on a savage model 10 flip-k ( left handed). What is your opinon on the scope and type of base and rings? Should I get a 20moa base?

I've had one for 2 months, it's a great scope. I got NF Lightweight Titanium Rings. I'd definitely buy another, a great value for the money. Only you can determine what MOA Base you need, depends on the type of shooting you are doing. Buy one, you won't regret it. I truly believe the reviews by those more knowledgable, you'll have to spend a whole lot more $$ to best it.

I haven't seen the SS 3-15 but I have seen the vortex FFP 32mm model. It's a great little scope. The sightron S3 scopes are very good as well, I have one of their 3.5-10 models it's for sale in the classifieds but I'll probably end up keeping it just as a back up.

Only time you need a 20MOA base is for extra elevation with a very low-range adjustment scope. Typically you will want about 40MOA of 'up' after zeroing to get a 308 to 1000 yards which is the 'HOLY GRAIL' most people are looking for. Warne bases have always worked fine for me as well as IOR.
