Are you talking about a parallax adjustment when you say rear focus? Because the SS 3-9x does not actually have a parallax adjustment. It was determined the magnification was not high enough on that scope that it is needed. If you check lowlights reviews of it he also says parallax is not a problem with that scope out to 800 yards at least. Mike McDonald has the same opinion of it as well.
Really they are two totally different scopes, one is FFP one is SFP, one has mrad adjustments the other in MOA.
Personally I would choose the SS scope because it is FFP and mrad adjustments, it makes things so much easier.
The S3 is more of a "benchrest" oriented scope where the SS is more in the "tactical" line.
