Re: SWR Spectre

I want a 1911 set up like you have! Does Tacsol sell the whole set up or just the conversion?? I heard that it may take some 'smithing' to the conversion and host for it to run like a top??
What are your thoughts?

Interesting. Yes it took a lot to get it to work correctly. I had to blade the firing pin, adjust the tension on the extractor, change the ejector face angle, polish the underside of the slide, adjust the angle and transition of the ramp at the back of the slide, and finally go with a hammer with enough mass to give consistent ignition.

I'm curious, where did you hear about the need for tuning? I haven't seen very many people running this kit.

Very soon I should should have a new dedicated host for it. I bought a Caspian frame from another hide member.

I not sure exactly what forum I found this topic, but from your description above, thats what I'm trying to find a solid gunsmith / vendor to stream line the process and NOT get into another project!

Re: SWR Spectre

Might be worth checking out the Advantage Arms conversion. I kinda wish I'd bought theirs instead and then had it threaded. I have one of their Glock conversions and it runs quite well.

Re: SWR Spectre

Definitely some compliments on the 1911, looks like it means business
