I probably own half a dozen TAB Gear products that I've acquired over the past few years (rear bags, shooting mats, rifle sling, etc.), and I've always found the products to be very well-made, and fully suitable for my purposes. As such, I've never had any reason to communicate directly with the company until now.
To make a long story short, I am thoroughly and completely impressed with the customer service provided by the folks at TAB Gear, and I'll surely go out of my way to use more of their products whenever I can in the future.
My story starts with a sling I recently purchased for my AIAX. I knew what I was looking for in a sling, and thought I had purchased the correct model based on what I had previously seen in online videos. However, through no direct fault of the folks at TAB Gear, I accidentally bought a different model of sling than the one I was looking for. I only discovered this fact after I wrote to TAB Gear's owner, Tony Burkes, via this forum asking about how to deploy the sling as I intended (did I need another part? Did I buy the wrong sling?). Tony responded to my e-mail within a couple of hours, and thoroughly explained the differences between the models of slings he has produced over the past few years. Apparently I had acquired a Quick Adjust model, while thinking that I was purchasing a Rapid Adjust Sling. Again, there's likely some user-error there on my part, and this wasn't a situation I felt was TAB Gear's responsibility… I hadn't even purchased the sling directly through TAB Gear, but rather through a brick and mortar store (I always figured I'd head back there for the sake of making an exchange).
Instead, Tony went above and beyond my expectations to make sure that this mistake on my part was resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible. He immediately sent me the correct sling, and just asked me to send him the one I had once I got the new one. Tony told me that he would send an addressed return envelope with the new sling so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping, feeling that this mistake was his responsibility since the slings had not been labeled for their differences before shipping them to the retailer. Since I personally felt that this issue was really not the fault of Tony's or TAB Gear, I offered to pay for shipping myself, so that these guys wouldn't have to pay out of pocket for two directions of shipping.
Anyway, I shipped the sling I had back to Tony, and my new sling arrived here two days later… along with six dollars in cash and a handwritten note explaining that the money was to cover my cost for shipping!
Honestly, you just can't find too many companies that operate like this these days, and I do believe that this will lead TAB Gear to great things. If nothing else, they have a customer for life and new cheerleader in me, and I couldn't be happier with my experience in dealing with them.
So, if any of you are looking to buy from a company that truly stands behind their products, and with their customers, I'd urge you to check out TAB Gear.
