TAB Gear Data Book Cover Question

The tabgear product is a zippered slipcover that goes over your impact data book/binder. I Have 2 ID binders with the pages i want and they live inside tabgear covers. The covers have pockets inside the front and rear for various items. In the front I have a pen to write with plus a soft measuring tape. In the back is a band to hold my Kestrel, and pockets for colored pens, a few papers etc. I used regular half size binder deciders from Staples to segment my ID pages the way I want. I’ll see if I upload pictures. Amazon for a Velcro backed name tape for the front cover.

TAB and IDB both source quality covers.
I give IDB the edge for the diagonal paracord they include to keep your pages from blowing in the wind......you will encounter wind.
I own 5 or so IDB books with covers if that makes me knowledgeable.
I also own one of those TacticalNotebook Sniper covers. Love it!
But Im using it with special landscape orientation data pages set that Sig Sauer academy issues in their PSR class. Really wish these pages were readily available. They are alcohol ersaseble/reuseable data cards made of some plastic like material. Fantastic. Company that makes them supplies the mil with leadership books, casualty cards 5 paragraph order cards, local to New Hampshire. The pages are holed on the short end and work perfect with that cover.
IDB pages wont be ideal with the TacNoteBook offering. I currently have some in there - legacy data until I populate the new book - and they dont really fit.

Was actually one of your posts that put the Tactical notebooks on the map for me. I’ve been thinking about the Sig classes as they are an hour away from me.

Will do I made a post here about the Sig Data book a few years ago if you search deep.
I got a book in the 3 day class and the 2 day class.
I tossed the chaff and combined the wheat to make it the book for my most favorite rifle.
In the TNB cover I carry

- front cover has a Triad stock pack clear window with my rifle drops attached to the velcro.

I recognized the THULS from when I was in. Lot of guys had / were issued / used them.
It looks like they have included some pages from the Sig book in their Scoped Rifle Data Book.
I like the tri fold range card it's similar to IDBs range page.
That tri fold target page with triangles is almost a must have for classes at Sig. They use that target as you might have seen in my class post.

@pmclaine ordered one this afternoon. Couldn’t hold out on my never ending search for a cleaner data book. Probably move it to a new post when it comes in.

If you have used Thuls you won't be surprised by the utility of it.
I bought 90 percent alcohol at CVS and use the recommended Staedler pens or pencil to write in my Sig book. It erases pretty clean.
For stubborn stains one of the Mr Clean cleaning sponges with 90 percent alcohol will do the trick to make the pages look new.
I did get the THULS PR one. It’s on tan paper which doesn’t look as easy to read with my eyes as black on white but very happy with the book. I’ll try to get some pictures up later. I did get there cover. The guys are great and a former Marine like myself. There cover is sized for just there book, with that in mind if that’s all you’re looking for you’ll be happy.

Im going to order a cover, the PSR book, two Sig target pages, range card page, than a pack each of lined notes and grids.
Staedler Pens are the best for use on these, Ill have to get a set of those than a couple Write in the Rain mechanical pencils, a 6 inch rule should make me complete.
That cover they sell will not work with the Sig Thuls pages as Sig had theirs punched on the landscape side while Thuls sells their stuff punched on the portrait edge.

Yeah, the Sig layout won’t fit for sure. Pictures show the small rings included with the book and the larger ones that are more robust. I know you got a full cart but I’d call Ken tomorrow if you’re interested in an expansion pack for the PR book. It’s got some more info on common sizes of items etc. it has the mil/Leo sniper in mind.

You set your book up exactly as I would set up mine to include the manufacturer of markers and pencils. Your rifle data indicates you have a sweet rifle.
Those tri fold targets are fantastic for classes at Sig, I have two in my cart and they are the main reason I want to get this book. If you go to the page on thuls for those trifolds there is a link to buy the actual paper targets should you want to buy some for yourself. I grabbed a couple extra from the class and intend to use them to check my scope tracking.
The 90 percent alcohol from CVS will work good in that alcohol bottle and as stated previously anything that is stubborn to erase usually comes off with a Mr. Clean cleaning sponge. Those things must be impregnated with clay as a light abrasive.
The expanded pack looks useful for the "common sized items" reference pages. I bet those pages are used at SIG for their range estimating course. Listening to some of the chatter about the class they have "homework" that requires students to measure some stuff and bring to class the next day. When I was there two weeks ago someone brought the instructor a street sign for use in the ranging class - Im guessing they set it down range and have people measure it through the scope to provide a range to target.
I spoke with Ken a few years ago trying to get pages for my SIG book but they were exclusive to SIG at the time. I think he is friends with the main scoped rifle instructor at SIG who is also a Marine. I think I have his email address somewhere and will contact him about the expanded pack.
Is he selling the Staedler markers and Rite in the Rain pencils just not showing them on the site?

I have staedler (map pens as we called them) crawling out my ears. Used them a lot in the service along with hand sanitizer to erase them. Also had some of the rite in the rain pencils kicking around. I like them a lot more than regular mechanical pencils as the lead doesn’t break when writing. It’s been a while since using THULS stuff but am just as happy with it as the others I’ve used. I did pick up a ton of the Sig targets (to offset shipping) and take advantage of the z fold out target. Just need some time to hit the range now...

At .55 per target it doesnt make sense to buy three of them and pay $7 in shipping from the target vendor not that you were trying to maximize shipping with Thuls.......

Was feeling good last night, worked an OT, extra money all is good.
Get home dishwasher is showing a fault code. Ive fixed this fucker already 3 times at $150 a whack. Spending more on it gets me over the 50% cost of a new dishwasher.
Im definitely buying a case of match 30-06 ammo this week as I have found a sweet deal I cant pass up but I may put my data book on hold until next OT and use the money on a new dishwasher.
Is that a 1” binder? I’ve tried two different Avery binders and so far I still haven’t found one that will allow the cover to close properly. Do you know the size by any chance?
