Just a respectful heads-up People I have had a handful of calls asking about Tac Ops rifles for sale here over the past few years. A few of you unfortunately bought a used Tac Ops that was completely shot out even though the seller stated it had 300 to 400 rounds through it. I keep a very good log on any first-time buyer (s) over the past 30 years. I have had to repair a few rifles for guys that got fked over by the sellers that had no integrity. If anyone is looking to purchase a Tac Ops rifle here, please contact me first with the serial number and I'll let you know the back story of the rifle and when I built it. I will also let you know telephonically ( I will not post their names here ) who not to buy from as I know there MO.
I am also happy to look at the rifle before you purchase it and give you a complete evaluation in writing if you pay the shipping to my shop...

He always helps out and goes above what he should to make the customers happy, or anyone he talks to really.

The guy you said he was going on about is the guy that used to own the rifle that you were asking about.
That guy ruined one of his Tac Ops serveral times so Mike told you about that and said don't buy the rifle but if you do you might get burned, and you called him a liar.

After hearing what happened the only thing I can think of is that this guy crapping up the thread is off his rocker.
Not only from his conversation with Mike but the fact that he is here openly lying about what happened.

I'd advise to not call Mike just to gossip. He's a super busy guy and doesn't need people calling to gossip like school girls. If the guy called him a liar, who cares. Mike tried to warn him. It's own dumbass fault if he didn't listen and spent $6k+ or whatever on a used Tac Ops that is ruined.

He kept running hot handloads through the gun and would shoot about 400 rounds in a weekend. His high pressure loads would eat the bolt face around the firing pin hole.

Correction/clarification:
He did that to a different rifle, twice and had Mike fix it. Then he shot the barrel out of another rifle and then sold it to someone else who then had to pay Mike to fix it. The rifle the guy is looking at hasn’t been fixed by Mike, but Mike knowing the history of the guy that is selling it told Valsports that it is probably messed up.

I remember a while back, someone sent a TacOps stock to have the DBM inlet recut for a different bottom metal. Mike offered to fix it iirc for the buyer of the rifle. It's a been a long while however so don't quote me on the second part.

Mike has told me the story of that dipshit. Not only was he burning the gun out he was lying about what was happening until he slipped up and let out he was shooting super hot handloads. And was still badmouthing Mike on different forums.

I think that guy is the reason Mike offers his consult for used rifle buyers. He knows whose good and who is a liar.
