Wicked nice rifle -- I have an old 40X and I covet your magazine capability.
You don't give yourself credit for you and your rifle's capability. Use a standard NRA 200-yard center (which, by comparison to that Shoot-n-see will look huge) like the mini-Palma guys use to train. I think you'll find you shot within the 10- and X-rings.
The Palma guys who shoot .22s at 200 say the winds affect a round-nose .22LR at 200 like a 155 .308 at a thousand.

The rifle is a Mossberg 42m(a) and conveniently feeds .22 LR and .22 short from the magazine. Though there is a rod that shortens the mag for .22 short.

After I cleaned her up though, this is 3 5-shot groups at 50 yds with the wolf match extra.
Yes, a .22 @ 200 drifts like a 155 .308 @ 1,000. if you read the info on my video, I do state that a 1 mph wind @ 90 degrees affects the bullet impact by 1.5" at that range, about .75 MOA.
I am familiar with the 200 yd centers... I shot NRA High-Power for the USMC rifle team. The Shoot-n-See is 3" in dia, which is the same diameter as the 'X' ring, the group most certainly would be inside the 10 ring (@ 7"). The vertical spread is only about 1.5"... but the horizontal spread is more like 4". Now THAT would be a fun course of fire to shoot... 3 stages of 15 rnds at 200 yds on the SR-1 target.

I think it will shoot tighter than that if you single feed it. You were getting bullet nose damage every time it didn't feed right. It might have even been hapening
just entering the chamber. That will open the group on a 22 lr lead bullet. There is a reason they went to single shot target rifles. I have a 44US and a 44B along with
several Winchester 52's, Remington 513T's and 40X's including the 40X USMC. I love shooting long distance with them. I've shot out to 300 with my Anschutz 1411.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing... though in shooting her with an original magazine, atleast 1 round in the mag wouldn't feed right and I never had any noticable 'flyers'. I guess little nicks and deformations don't affect a subsonic bullet with a G1 B.C. of .130 as much as a supersonic one with 5x the B.C. I might have to pick up one of those single load devices...

Thanks sinister, I really enjoyed working on her... and the coolest part is that I have less than $100 invested (minus scope of course), and it's a NICE shooting, one of a kind, rifle. I've been trying to find out what/who made the barrels that were used in these, but I've come up short. I do know that I'd have to fork out considerable dough to try and get a comparable barrel today.

I did leave the two rear screws on the left side of the receiver to attach the rear aperture... I might have to go with a barrel mounted front aperature though. I trimmed about 1 1/4" off the front to get rid of the worn rifling and re-crown.

I did not test any other ammo with different profiles... I tested over a dozen subsonic and match varieties, but those are all lead round nose. Wolf Match Extra, and Lapua Center X shot the best. Aguila subsonic shot the worst... 1 1/4" groups at 50 yds. I got better results with CCI blazer high velocity stuff.
