It's not easy to disassemble - especially the polymer/plastic cap in the middle of the tension knob. It's also easy to melt. I've coated three of them now and have found coating them in assembled fashion is far easier than trying to disassemble and put back together. I bake at 160 for 1.5 hrs. After that initial coat is done I just touch up the areas that were covered by the legs during the first run and bake again at same temp for 45 mins. Turns out great...
I'm thinking I could just spray paint the plastic parts. Only stuff I am worried about is damaging it taking it apart or putting it back together. That's a good tip about the cap though.
*looking at the bipod, how do the legs separate from the leg bases? Do the leg bases come apart? What is that silver dot near the bottom of the legs for? Can those O rings near the top of the top of legs come off? How does the leg extension levers come apart (there feels like there's an O ring or a spring in them)? Damn, how does that plasic cap on the bottom of the knob come off? This is pretty complicated, there should be a video out there but can't find any.
edit: I saw on one video that plastic cap can be pried off using a knife or razor. Why is that cap there?
I found this on their websight
