Have a chance to pick up a barreled action with bottom metal and 150 Rds of 125gr Sierra MK ammo for $400. Been missing having a 300 blk bolt gun for some time. Had one built off a savage and got talked out of it. Any experience with these? Guy says with Nosler factory varmegeddon 110’s it shoots MOA. Figured I could ring out more with my handloads. What’s the hides consensus on these.

I have been looking at getting a trued up action from NSS and a remage barrel for about $250 more

Make sure its actually the 7 or 8 twist that its supposed to have and not the mislabeled 10 or 12 twist that some mistakenly shipped with if you want to ever run stable subsonics. If all you want are light bullets then it shouldnt be an issue.

Mine shot like shit no matter what I did. It got sold down the road and replaced with a El cheapo ar upper that shot under MOA with handloads. I might have had a lemon, but I'll never know. A 300BO bolt gun is too specific a tool for me to have enough use to justify

If it was a Remington, you likely had the wrong barrel on it. Mine was marked 1in7 and was actually a 1in10. It never shot great. I sent it back to AAC and they put the correct barrel on it. It shoots great now and stabilizes the heavies without issue. To the OP, they are fun guns, but just realize what you're buying and you won't be disappointed.

Worth trying it out. $400 ain’t much and you can treat it like an experiment. Like it? Keep it and play. Don’t like it? Sell it for $300 and treat the $100 difference as a rental/test fee. That’s usually how I justify some purchases I’m on the fence with.

I'm very satisfied with mine. I've shot excellent groups with 208 AMax subs.

If you wind up not liking it after you shoot all the ammo, you can part it out easily.

$90 for the bottom metal
$300+ for the action
$100 for the barrel
