Tango Down BG-17

Tango Down sent me their BG-17 in FDE. As the BG-16 is my preferred grip for the AR-15, I was interested in comparing the two to see how much larger the BG-17 is than its predecessor.

Included was a brief overview and one Allen wrench.

Water resistant compartment inside the grip with flexible rubber plug.

BG-17 Weight: 3.7 oz
Grip
- upper: 1 35/64 in. diameter
- base: 1 58/64 in. diameter
Length from trigger to grip backstrap center.
- 3 in. (even)

Compared to the BG-16.
Grip :
- upper: 1 27/64 in. diameter
- base: 1 49/64 in. diameter
Length from trigger to grip backstrap center.
- 2 3/4 in.

Fit is seamless and tight. The BG-17 features a extended grip backstrap.

Extended grip fairs smoothly into the lower receiver and prevents any web bite.

As I feel the BG-16 is comfortable for me I now find myself unsure which I prefer, I need a little more time handling both. For anyone that feels the BG-16 is undersized the BG-17 offers a more robust grip and extended trigger reach for those with larger hands or longer fingers.

I recently received the BG17 as well. I'm just not sure about the radius near the top of the back strap. I'm still not sure if I like it either. I do like the extra trigger reach however.
