Tattoos for medical reasons?

Re: Tattoos for medical reasons?

I remember reading that military guys used to get similar tattoos before deploying. Had all of their relevant info on it. I think it was something like their dog-tag, only more permanent.

Neat idea though. Seems it would be useful if you seized up and couldn't tell them your allergies.

Re: Tattoos for medical reasons?

If a person goes through the pain of a tattoo on there chest with DNR or NO CPR they mean it. I have seen blood type tattoo's on the side of the neck before because that's were the pulse is checked. MM

The very reason I am going tech and buying a Simpson for my next one. They have a helmet removal system that every ambulance has(supposedly, confirmed from a fellow student who is 18 series medic, emt, etc)., Inside the helmet is a set of blow up balloon type things that ease the helmet off without moving the cervical spine. I also think it's a good idea with all that info, thanks for posting that. I may add ICE, see cell to that as well...small card, cover it with clear coat

Good point, medical personnel have access to this stuff and it works well from the feedback I've read on it.

What I am trying to avoid is BubbaJoe who things he's going to tear my helmet off while we wait for an am-ba-lamps to arrive.

Re: Tattoos for medical reasons?

This is really off of the path taken but here it goes.
While in RVN I was hit with grenade fragments and most all of them were taken out.
I have one hole in my back that no matter what, I can't see it and have to have my Panty 6 drain it for me.
It is hard to see, but she knows where to look.
Sometimes it fills and she will squeeze the build up out of the hole and I feel much better. Sometimes she can't find it but it is still there and itches like hell until drained.
My Panty 6 took me to the tattoo parlor and had them put a small blue dot just under the wound and now she doesn't have to look long to find it and take care of me.
Bless her.
Regards, FM
