Got a nice package in the mail today with my first AR top in the 300 Blackout. Looks solid except for one thing-300 Black is not written on the upper anywhere. I am new to the world of AR weapons, but I would think that having clear ID of the caliber would be required similar to bolt guns and shotguns. Would you be hesitant to load a round into the chamber of this rifle and pull the trigger? I have no reason not to believe the guy who sold it to me, but I am putting more faith into my fellow man than i am comfortable with. I sent him a message and he assured me it is indeed what I purchased, but still. Am I crazy?

Re: Tatum Tactical 300 upper

A little crazy, but nothing clinical.

5.56 won't chamber in a 300 BLK.

I've read that 300 BLK will chamber in a 5.56 depending on the OAL and type of bullet.

I have an easy test. Run a cleaning rod through the barrel. A 30 cal jag won't fit in a 22 caliber tube and a 22 caliber jag will rattle around in a 30 cal tube.

Yep, I confirmed that it is indeed a 30 caliber bore, I was just a little uneasy about loading any round into a chamber not marked unless I 'smithed it myself. Just cant recall ever seeing a barrel or chamber with no markings whatsoever. Thanks, Jim R
