I’ve purchased an Ultra 9 and currently waiting patiently for my friends at the ATF. Trying to get more dedicated rifles suppressors instead of sharing my 1 .30 Cal can which I’ve been doing the last couple years. The Ultra 9 in .30 Cal I bought was for my 28 Nosler with a Proof Reasearch carbon Sendero profile barrel. I was informed that a lot of people were using the 338 for 6mm and up with good sound reduction. The $1,700 plus price tag vs the $1,100 was a little hard to swallow at the time. Now would love to get one but, wondering how much better the 338 Ultra would suppress vs an ultra 9 on a 28 Nosler? The 28 will probably be the largest Cal. or cartridge I shoot. I thought I’d read somewhere in a cartridge like that it wouldn’t be that noticeable. Trying to justify it here. What do you guys think?

Right now I have 3 suppressors in jail and trying to ride the momentum and complete my buying spree now so I can have later instead of buying later and having MUCH later or just putting it off all together.

Well I can’t say from experience but I do have an ultra 7 6.5 I use on my match gun. I also have a 28 nosler I have purchased a 338 ultra for. From the testing tbac has done it seems like the 338 is all the can you could need. My guess is your ultra 9 will do almost the same job.

That’s kind of what I was wondering. Heard it made a big difference on the small 6mm and 6.5 but not as noticeable on the larger calibers and cartridges? If not that much difference maybe I’ll just look at another Ultra 9 in but in 6.5. I could get the TBAC Ultra 9 and .22 Takedown plus 2 tax stamps and be about the same price for just the 338 with 1 stamp. They sure are proud of them 338’s lol. I’ve got a 6mm creed, a .260rem, and my next build will probably be a .264 WM.

I run my 338 Ultra on my 6 BRa, 25 SAUM, and 338 Lapua. I also have a Ultra 7 but it mostly sits collecting dust these days. The 338 Ultra is stupid quiet. At PRS matches with it on my 6 BRa the shot timers can’t pick it up even when held closer to the muzzle. On my 338 the loudest thing you hear is the bullet going down range. I find the 338 Ultra also better at recoil reduction than the Ultra 7. Only downside to the 338 Ultra is the length. Sure wish TBAC would come out with a slightly shorter one.
