Does anyone see any issue with using the 30 cal CB brake on a 223 bolt action? I have 2 5/8" 30 cal brakes and still can not find any 223 1/2" brakes. I'm going to cut the kids Tikka barrel down to 18" and thread it for a can. Seems like everytime I get ready to do this I can't find the 223 brakes ...

Or does anyone have a lead on a 223 brake.

Thanks!

I’ve never had an issue & have several 223 bolt guns with 30 cal CB brakes, I just wish TBAC would make their 5/8-24 & 1/2-28 brakes more readily available to purchase.

I picked up a spare in the PX

But for .223 there’s no way I’d run a brake, I’d run their flash hider

Adds length to your barrel if that matters, I don’t care for them on a bolt gun.

The barrel is getting shortened so I'm good to go there.

I'm always to late for ones in the PX, the flash hider would be ok also. It is the kids rifle. I just need to get an AICS bottom metal for it now. Since I haven't been able to find any I think I'm just going to use one of my 5/8 brakes since I have 2 of them and a 3/4" one sitting in the cabinet. Hopefully the kids 6x47 will get done next year along with my 300NM so I'll still be good on parts.

well I forgot how small this sporter barrel is, even cut down. Looks like I am going to have to go with a 1/2" flash hider. Now I just need to find one. Supposedly Mile High has them, but they want $40 to ship it.....
