I have a TBAC ultra 5 30 cal. How would it be to throw on a 5.56 AR? How about a 300 blk ar?

How are the TBAC flashhiders? I was hoping to find a video of somebody shooting one at night to see the flash. No such luck. Any feedback out there?

Thanks!

It was kinda of made with .300 Whisper in mind, but works really well on standard rifle cartridges at certain barrel lengths.

TBAC publishes a list of calibers and barrel lengths that will bring the muzzle pressure down enough for it.

I use it on my 12” Grendel with the flash hider, haven’t installed the brakes on any other blasters yet.

APPLICATION NOTES

Minimum barrel lengths2:

6".300 Blackout (subsonic)
8".300 Blackout (full power)
10"6.8 SPC, 7.62x39
11.5"223 Rem, 5.56, 6.5 Grendel
14.5".308 Win, .260 REM, 6.5 Creedmoor, .243 WIN, .22 Creedmoor
16"6.5 SAUM, 6.5 PRC, 7 WSM, 7 SAUM, 7STW, 7RM, 300 WSM
18"26 Nosler, 28 Nosler, 300 WM, 300 WBY, 6.5-300WBY
22"7 RUM, 300 Norma, 300 RUM, 300 PRC

I’ve got their flash hider on a 300 BLK, but it’s on a 16” bolt gun. I’ll try to shoot it at night this weekend without the Ultra 7 on the end and get a video for you. My 10” 300 BLK AR has the CB brake and it throws fireballs, maybe I should swap those two around. But I almost never shoot them naked.

I have a couple of their flash hiders, but have never shot them without the can. I'd speculate the amount of flash is more determined by powder type and barrel length than any magic in the design of the flash hider. I put them on guns that *might* someday be fired without a can right next to someone else.

I have two of their 5" cans, a 30 cal and a 6.5. I run one or the other on every AR I own except one. I'm always surprised at how decent they sound with a can that short. The 5" 30 cal is perfect on my 8" BO. It's a super handy package. I gotta say, though, that a 9" can on a BO is amazing. Holywood quiet.

Isn't the can itself going to be the best flash hider? Are you looking to move it around from rifle to rifle? It's cheaper to buy the Area 419 adapters than a buttload of hiders and brakes.

Yes, I'll probably move it around.

What are the area 419 adapters that you're referring to?

Thanks

That would be awesome. If you could do a comparison to having the can on, that would be helpful as well :)

Ok here are two clips taken from videos of the TBAC flash hider and the Ultra 7, both shown firing a 110 Barnes TAC-TX at around 2400 from a 16” bolt rifle. I believe 20 grains of Win 296 was used for these rounds. It was darker outside than my phone camera made it look like. I have videos but it’s not letting me upload them. I was surprised to see that the can had more flash than the flash hider without the can attached had.
