Hunting & Fishing tc encore primer = pissed

So I have not used my muzzle loader a tc encore in two years. I have not shot a buck in two years. So I decided to go to the range and re sight in my gun ( new scope). Got to the range and tried to use CCI primers and the gun will not close. I remember this being a problems. What Primers are you using.

I have Winchester primers and mine will do the same thing. unscrew the breech plug. then put it back in and try it. Sometimes I even have to break open and close the gun fairly well before my hammer will cock. I always check the hammer once I load mine b/c I missed being able to shoot a deer one evening because of this. Hope this helps
