I have. TRG-42 in .338 LM. I would love to have one in .300 WM too but I can't justify the premium cost over the .338 Lapua version. I was thinking about buying a Sako M995 in 7mm mag and rebarreling to 300WM

What are the pros/cons of the M995 aka TRG-S?

I would probably be putting it in a Whiskey 3 chasis.

ETA: do the M995 and TRG22/42 use the same bolt handle?

The pros are all the same as your TRG action, however one con is that it's difficult to find a scope base for it. It has the tapered dovetail rather than the straight one like the TRG. The trigger is the standard Sako trigger which can be tuned to be pretty nice or you can use a TRG trigger. It has a different bolt handle than the TRG, a one piece steel thing. The knob is a little smaller than the TRG but i don't think it is that big of a deal. You can put a takeoff TRG 300WM barrel on there if you can find one. You used to be able to find those as guys pulled them off.

It's a great fit for the Whiskey-3 but I would suggest to get on the wait list if you want one. We only have a certain number of 995 specific parts left and after that I doubt we'll make more. Good luck, sometimes you can find good deals on the actions but you have to look and wait.

I have a 995 switch barrel that uses both a factory TRG 300WM barrel and 338 Lapua barrel in a XLR chassis with CIP length mags (from Accurate Mag) for both. I used the factory one piece steel knob on the 300WM bolt, and the TRG knob on the 338 bolt so that I can tell the difference at a quick glance. I later turned the factory knob down and put an aluminum ringed bolt knob on it, but it's the same idea.

I ended up using a US Optics 20MOA scope base, though the receiver did need to be drilled/tapped for it.

I was able to purchase both barrels here on the Hide for a little over $200 each; the gun started as a 7mm Weatherby Mag
