It's actually the only Tesla vehicle I've ever seen which I actually like the look of. When I first saw it I thought it was fucking hideous, but I've warmed up to it a bit. The other Tesla vehicles show all the aesthetic imagination of a chemical laboratory. At least this one is unique.

The specs are pretty decent as well, but for the tier one version it's something like $70k. At that price point you could rebuild an old Chevy, make it bulletproof, and it would tow that Tesla sumbitch straight up a goddamn tree without breaking a sweat. I'm not paying $70k for a fucking fashion statement, my money is worth too much to me for this bullshit. Like I said, I do kind of dig the look of it and I think it's cool that someone is breaking ground on offering compelling security-minded vehicles to the popular market. But fuck all that.

There's multiple ways to obtain electricity w/o the grid. And I understand your needs. To be fair and honest, I'm buying based on an intact civilization. And even if SHTF, you can live off grid using a generator and solar panels, both of which I have, and recharge. May take a long time but you can do it. You can take both w/ you fairy easily as well. Plugged in while driving. Likely using energy faster than recovery, but can be done.

Also, when you run out of 'fuel', whether you have need gas or diesel or both, you're out. Where you gonna get it? Run out of juice and you can use a solar panel w/o any need of anyone else. Slow? Yes. Ever renewable? Yes. And it doubles as a huge generator when it's fully charged. 220 included.

“Lots of people” in a country of over 300 million and statistically significant are two different things. The truck doesn’t fit your use, or critical to you occasional use, I get it.

I drive a truck every day and have 220 at home and work. Despite almost always having something in the bed or on the hitch I usually don’t drive more than 80-100 miles a day. Keeping one charged won’t be a problem for me.

It will be the rare exception that I drive more than 500 miles in a day, so is that extra planning or inconvenience worth it to me specifically in trade for 0-60 in three seconds and a 13k tow capacity out of a $70k truck? 100% yes. I’m not an aftermarket truck modding expert but I would imagine it would take at least another $100k over msrp to get a current production truck to that 60 time while being marginally bulletproof.

And while I know I’m in the vast minority here, I grew up drooling over the old Lambo SUVs in the DuPont Registry magazines and love the look of the truck.

The Tesla pricing is actually pretty significant as being competitive in the market. A decent optioned F150 is gonna be $35K+. You can actually consider the Tesla as an available option depending on your wants and use needs. Once you factor in operation costs, which is significantly less than a gas or diesel powered vehicle, it begins to make a lot of sense for a lot of people who use trucks for work/business.

Time will tell. I'm anxious to watch it play out.

You're right, but in this specific case, it was mentioned by Elon that price does NOT count in the fed/state refund yet. There is 5 mins version of his speech on Youtube.

I already pre-ordered one, doesnt mean I'll get rid of my F-150 but $100 is not much a problem even I dont want it in the end.
