Teslong drive me crazy

I should have shot this brand new barrel instead I decided to look inside. I am no expert but this is normal, right? The grooves all have this sloping shape rather than flat. This is in the throat to riflings. I’m from Canada and this barrel is close to $800.00. I just wanna make sure this is normal before I shoot as it’s the first custom non factory barrel I ever bought.

I’m not sure but it’s a proof shouldered prefit for solus action 6gt 1:7.5 tw 26 inch comp contour.

If so, is this not the lead part of the throat which absolutely is supposed to slope. I understand that 1.5 degrees of slope is fairly common.

You might want to look at a SAAMI chamber drawing.

He’s talking circumferentially, where the freebore meets the groove(not the 1.5 deg slope of the lands) . As viewed in the pic, the right side of the groove is cut further towards the muzzle than the opposite side of the same groove.

Barrel looks fine. That cross bore "taper" at the start of the grooves is made by the leading edge of the cutting tool (or button). Usually cutting tools have a slight taper for chip removal and help reduce chatter, etc. Now with that being said, take your borescope out and shoot it!

@Barzor all joking aside, the rifling looks jut fine. I've seen straight to about 45 degree angle of the leading edge of the rifling.

A borescope is just like any other diagnostic tool. One just needs to know what they are looking at and that takes time/experience. One could fuck up using a stethoscope if they didn't know what they were doing with it. I'm sure if I looked at a colon during a colonoscopy I'd freak out on stuff a doctor would say was just fine.

Mate don't worry about what the cool kids say to impress the masses. It is a tool, and can only be learned by asking questions.
You are right to have thought it best to shoot things first though, look for problems after if that doesn't go well.....

Bore scoping your rifle is like driving your vehicle with the radio off....You will hear shit and think is that normal.... turn the radio back on and everything is good.
