I refuse to go out and eat if a mask is required. Business should be refusing the mandates and I would support them and "march" with them. I’ve been hearing that they were going to going up again. Him freezing them is music to my ears.

There are many still being impacted today such as food services.

A LOT of these restaurants are doing it to themselves though...IMO.

My wife and I go out to eat several times per week... Everywhere we go is usually packed(to capacity) and busy busy busy with to-go and take out... However If we pull up to a restaurant and we cant go eat inside, we dont go eat there... There is NOTHING saying dining rooms have to be closed currently, but a lot are still staying closed, by their own choice. Fast food restaurants especially are doing this...

Best fast food setup I went to was a Whataburger that had half the tables blocked off. They had one person dedicated to the dining room who was working the door as well as cleaning tables as soon as people got up to leave. One door in, one door out, single trash can by the exit door. Was a good system and only took a single worker to manage. The manager of that store had it figured out and IMO was reaping the benefits. I "heard" that lots of fast food restaurants didnt want to dedicate the staff to keeping up with the restrictions in the dining room... Didnt seem to bad to me, and we went at lunch and they were busy.

Some of the higher end restaurants in Dallas said they werent going to open until 100% capacity was allowed because they would lose money because they still would be required to have a full staff even if only 50% capacity was allowed... Sorry I've worked in restaurants and thats simply not true...if you are hungry for money you make shit happen... so obviously these restaurant OWNERS arent hurting for cash...although I bet their workers are...

I give it to the bars in Texas that have pivoted to being considered restaurants and all that that entails. I live in a dry county, but there are like 5 or 6 "bars" that are private clubs. They all have restaurants attached and normally the restaurant closes at 9pm but the bar stays open until 12 or 1. They have all dedicated to keep the restaurant portion open until bar close time. One also became non smoking inside to comply with restaurant rules(that was a big deal as I know a lot of people went there BECAUSE they could smoke inside while drinking/playing pool/darts/etc) and I think they have MORE business because of that change.

FWIW, I wear a mask when conducting business.
I look at it as a reasonable precaution.
Is it 100% effective? No, but neither are condoms.
If it can reduce the chance that I contract it, I'll wear one.
Should it be mandated? No. Just like seat belts should not be mandated.
Do I care if you wear one? Nope, You shouldn't have to if you don't want to.

I agree, not a fan of the masks, but I still wear it when I go to a store. I try to avoid going if I can help it. My wife is a medical professional and she will tell you that she is concerned about the transmissibility of it, however her biggest complaint is how politicized the masks have become, makes her job difficult.

Mainly the back lash that people give her when she tells them they have to wear them in a hospital. If this wasn’t used as a political tool I don’t think the argument would be used as often, mainly because in my mind who could fault a hospital for taking precautions with a bunch of sickly people. Intubations on HIV patients are done frequently without a face shield. Don't know where you worked at but that isn't always a thing. No blood, no facemask. Its called being careful in an emergency. HEP C is more contagious than HIV, no face shield during intubations there either. When someone's desatting you just go. Covid is a virus for sure and it is contagious but this facemask debacle is just that. It stops spittle that can have it in it but then when you finger fuck the mask it gets on your hands and then gets on the squirter of liquid salvation, then the next person gets it on them. Defunding isn’t fiscal conservatism, they are trying to divert funds to their new agency of social workers. That will certainly increase overall cost and likely the police will be needed at most of the calls they respond to.
Eventually people will realize that a strong police force is needed in communities with a lot of crime and they will then begin to raise taxes in wealthier areas to pay for both the actual police and the social workers.

Police are a force for good in rough neighborhoods, taking them away for the sake of this dumb sound bite is one of the most horrid things I’ve seen populism put forth.

I have applied for my homestead and senior exemption and they really don't give you shit for relief. On top of that, they may not even have regular school classes so can I get a refund because I have to home school my grand kids?

Dont get me started HOW our property taxes are distributed, BUT ive done the math based on the average state income tax across the USA, I think it was either 6 or 6.5%, and MOST of our property taxes are a wash compared to those states, unless you live WELL above your means...

no income tax
no yearly car tax(lots of states have this)
MOST of your groceries are tax free
homestead exemption(25% or 25k off the assessed value)
over 65 tax freeze
tax reduction for disability %(at least for prior military, not sure if any other disabled get that)
