Something that I have noticed that is very concerning to me, and should be to many on this site, is the blu-ing of Texas. In the 2018 mid-term elections Ted Cruz narrowly beat Bet(a)-o-Rourke. In 2016 Trump beat Hillary by 9 points, and polls for 2020 only show Trump is up by a few points. In a Newsweek poll, they had Biden over Trump. It is not just the big races that are narrowing between the parties, it is local races that are going blue now, that were once solidly red. I even read a quote the other day that said, "Texas is not a Red state, it is a non-voting state." As in, democrats in the state are starting to vote, because they see the margin is narrowing, and democrats are winning races.

People on this site, and especially people from Texas. What are we to do? If Texas goes blue, you can pretty much expect to never see a Republican president, senate or house ever agin.

My congressional district went blue in 2018 after being red for 20+ years.
I think it was the beto effect though. The Obama/beto message of “I can solve all your problems even if they’re conflicting” is a powerful one with the fools.
I see much more support for Trump than biden though. Polling has Cornyn up by 9. I also think we’ll be ok.

We are more blue than we used to be but I would be shocked if Trump lost here. If you look at the voting maps you have 10 square miles of blue around Dallas, Austin, Houston and some border towns with 1000 miles of red in between. We have the same problem as any red state, I can’t even count how many people I meet from California and Chicago now, and they fall for a so called moderate democrat every time, oblivious to the fact they had to flee their home states because of democrats, it’s like a circular firing squad, and it really doesn’t dawn on them if we lose here the number of places for them to run to is dwindling.

Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, will vote blue. Red everywhere else.

Texas is definitely going to flip blue by the next election, if current trends are any indication.

Additionally, the midwest may start to flip blue- Sillicon Valley is normalizing remote work. If i’m a Tech Yuppie in the Bay area and I can get 6 figures and live in South Dakota without a commute, you can bet i’m moving. The same might go for Texas- maybe people will ditch Austin once they realize they can bring their tech salary to a no state income tax state.

It will be interesting how this plays out. My prediction is that the Republican party will not be able to compete with the Democrats next election cycle. It has fallen out of favor with the youth, and boomers are dying age now. What will rise to take their place? Or will our system evolve to be more about the primary?

I am sure there are lots of Trump signs, but that is just those areas. When you look at the aggregate, Texas is blu-ing. Due to their business friendly climate and standard of living lots of people are moving to Texas, and bring their politics with them. - Too many R's trying to out-Dem the D's.

- Will always be those who reflexively go D or R, but hopefully critical thinking will come back into vogue.
- Texas' rugged individualism will carry the day in the correct direction but no resting on the laurels.

Remember the Alamo, draw the well defined line and run up the flag!

I avoid the place like the plague! As close as I want to get is Fort Smith. As for DAFW... Last time I went down to Triple C (headed back on Black Friday... maybe) I pealed off of 30 at Daingerfield and took FM's and RM's as much as possible! Damn near meditative driving the back roads. I love the area and would move in heartbeat but work would be in, yup, the MetroPlex. No thanks...

THink about this--Conyrn (I can never spell or say his name) is brow beating his challenger 8+ points (Texas Senator). But if Trump loses to Biden in Texas, that means ~ 10% people voted for a (R) Senator and a (D) President. Current polls are Trump +4-5 and Cornyn +8.

There is some scuttle but about the Texas house flipping, not sure how true that his or if it is wishful thinking. That would be more of an indicator.

But don't underestimate those Cali Transplants and growing HIspanic pop. HIspanics aren't blacks in that they are not a 90/10 pro Dem, but its still pretty unbalanced.

Well, what are you doing about it? I assume you live in TX, but no idea where. Are you running for office? Are you encouraging others to run for office? For the ones who've decided to, are you helping them get to where they want to be? This mask mandate stuff, forced business closures, etc, have you done anything on that front? How often do you call the Governor's office, testify to the TX lege, attend hearings, etc on the state level? On the County level? Local level? Do any high faluting politicians on either side of the isle know your name? Do they know you're actively working to replace them with candidates like Shelley Luther, Lui Larotta, Neko Antoniou, Martin Holsome, etc, etc, etc?

Kinda need more info to give any better advice than a bunch of questions I expect someone making a post like this to have answers for.

The people I am speaking of lived in El Dorado, went to school in Magnolia then met the only mexican at that college and had babies. Now she is college educated is pro-illegal immigration and now teaches at a bilingual charter school in Dallas.

My anecdotal experience in speaking to people I know who have had interest in political office but were off put by the true nature of the work when they started investigating it a little more. They typically found more fulfilling and less stressful work elsewhere. Its just my opinion above, certainly not gospel by any means.
