Thank God for Small Town USA

Tonight I went to watch the spring show hosted by the High School Choir, that my oldest happens to be a very active member of.
As i sat there,I looked over the programs song list and recognized
"God is our Refuge and Strength"
"Pslam 23"
"God Shall Wipe Away All My Tears"
"Amazing Grace"

After a standing ovation, kisses and hugs, small talk about turkey hunting, softball, and mining, everybody went home.

No story here! we just went home. No rights infrenged upon' other than the computer down at Mc Donalds and I had BK for supper.
Cars were not burnt in the streets, charges did not get filed, and the ACLU has not brought down the hammer of thor.

We just went home.

If it wasn't for my wife and children, I believe I'd be a very angry man.

Taking my youngest home from her crew practice, we drove by a young, "urban" punk with his pants down below the curvature of the ass. My windows were open and I did not hide my displeasure at the piece-o-excrement as I drove past his bicycle. I have concluded that such posture is a fashion statement saying "screw you asshole" in a lazy, insolent, knuckle draggy, non verbal manner.

I so wanted to stop and set the little bastard on the proper course but I have concluded that there is likely little or no chance such indolent, voluntary stupidity, can be corrected.

Yet I can't bring myself to flee to the burbs like so many have done before. This yields the city to the assholes who then Detroit-ify or Atlanta-morph it into ruination.

So I stay behind and resist.

no qq, it is 'Prison Bitch' wear. That means they will take it up the arse because they are small weak and not strong enough to lead.

SMall town mentality is good. Nothing happens and the ACLU know's they cannot do anything because they will be run out at pitchfork point

Some years ago, when the low pants thing first started taking hold, my adolescent son thought he'd give it a shot.
After being picked up a couple of feet off the floor by me yanking his pants up by the belt loops from behind him, he lost interest in the fashion craze.

Another incident occurred when I was renting a movie. The young fellow in front of me in line was constantly pulling his pants up and adjusting himself. The young lady behind the counter was similarly pigmented, and she seemed to be quite annoyed with him.

When she rang up his rental and asked him for the $1.05, I reached around him and laid the money on the counter, stating that I was going to pay for his rental so that he could save up his money and buy a much needed belt for his pants.

He frowned and she giggled.

I think he turned red, but it's hard to tell in some cases.
At any rate, he was duly embarrassed and I made a point.

The newest trend here is for them to walk in the street three and four abreast and dare cars to not swerve into the opposing lane to avoid them.

After a couple of near misses, they seem to have grown a deeper respect for my truck.

I agree. I hunt in a small town, and I try to buy my supplies and deer corn and such in town, instead of Dallas. I enjoy their hospitality, and am jealous over their lifestyle.

Yeah thats a big no-no in most cities...

I think if your offended then you have every right to leave.
Every one may know your buisness in a small town and you may know just about everyone.. but i miss my small town in new ulm Minnesota.

People just seem to be more respectful in a small town. I cant wait to get back to that small town.

JL, Does this serene tranquil and, high moral standard code of conduct continue into the fall season when The BULLDOGS play the BLUE TORNADOES . Kinda hit close to home. Nice Post.

You have went and cursed in a perfectly good thread!

Tues. Daughters softball team(Bulldogs) play the Big Blues for what will most likely be The District championship. The thing about the small town atmosphere is you really get close to the sports teams. Every girl on that team has spent the night here in our home. I pray they all hit a home run!

You'll find a bit of OC dischage from the window as one passes will alter that sort of behavior in dramatic fashion.

The stream type units work best.
