I was shooting some factory 300 blackout today. Winchester 125 grain jhps to be specific. I felt something smack me in the shooting glasses and could not figure out what it was. I gave up when I could not find anything. The casing looked fine and everhthijg functioned correctly. I fired another round and the rifle did not cycle....weird so I pulled the charging handle and ejected the casing. All looked fine, so I pulled the rifle apart and found that the damn adjustment screw from my JP D2 gas block had blown off!! No clue where it went but it left a heckuva scratch in my lense.

So it shot from the gas black all the way backward and hit you in the face?!?!?? That’s crazy. How is that even possible?
Was thinking the same! The laws of Physics ( as we know them today) would say the screw went down range. I would postulate that the case hit your glasses. I wonder if the shell was loaded a bit hot and the pressure popped the gas block screw and pitched the case back at you.

This is a pistol length gas system but a 16" barrel (300blk), the only thing I can figure is deflected off the inside of the handguard (I found a small scuff). I put a different gas block on it and ran another 30rds through it with no issues. I reached out to JP to see if I can get replacement parts
