Last summer the Skunkwerks division of Gunwerks released The Accountant. Cool name, cool gun, an intergrally suppressed 308 take down rifle 17.5" long makes it solid for supers or subs close or far.

$13,500. + stamp...Hard pass

A few years ago when Jtac released the Screech Owl, I grabbed one to do almost the same thing. Registered my TL3 and decided to do a 10" 300 blk instead.
I did an intergrally suppressed 9mm long ago and I dont think I'll ever do that again.
Figured I'd rather have a multipurpose SBR than a one purpose barrel. This way I can use my existing can or any future designs.

Just thought it was interesting how close mine was 3 years ago, to their final idea last summer.

These guys routinely sell turn-key rifles at 150% the going rate to have a reputable gunsmith build one. There will be buyers (fools and their money soon parted).

The big difference is that I don't see these getting the hunting video press that Gunwerks produces with their hunting shows. They probably figure that they'll sell a couple dozen and have priced this kit accordingly in order to recoup their investment.

Agree 100% and i see no issue with it.
I dont think any of their Skunkwerks projects are made for mass markets.

Over priced limited edition projects are nothing new. Especially in the gun industry.

I mean, dudes still buy enough Cabot 1911s to keep the company doing VERY well. I look at Gunwerks rifles and the niche that they fill the same way. There are probably hunting circles where unsheathing a Gunwerks rifle at the hunting camp is probably as impressive as unsheathing a 12" wiener in the locker room.

I have one on a pork sword chassis and origin with a couple of different barrels. One of which is an integrally suppressed barrel for it in 375 Raptor. But the integrally suppressed barrel is pretty disappointing. It's a Suppressed Weapons Systems product. 20" long, 10" of barrel and 10" of baffles. It's basically a monocore style machined into a barrel that's been back bored. It just doesn't have the volume despite machining massive flutes along the rifled length as a reflex expansion chamber. It's surprisingly loud. And the barrel on that Gunwerks photo looks like a SWS product too. Using a conventional suppressor is just better even though it doesn't give you that slick look. The Black Collar Arms version of the SBD is kind of a cool idea where they use a AB Raptor suppressor and use a one off reflex that goes the entire length of the barrel for a large expansion chamber. That way you get more volume for free, but the suppressor can still be used as a stand alone. I always thought it would be a cool idea to make an expansion chamber/ reflex that was Bravo hub compatible, sized for a specific length barrel, so any Hub compatible suppressor could be used as an integrally suppressed barrel as long as your barrel is cut to accept the reflex. But it's a dodgy idea with interpretation of what constitutes a suppressor part.

If you were to make that 300BO barrel about 3/4" longer and machine flats just behind the threads to make it 40 ft/bs swappable you would also have a loose variant of the Surgeon CSR.

And you can take compactness and quiet to the next level with the Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway pistol.

I’ll just say this in as nondescript of a way as possible… That JMac folding mech and GHW brace are EXTREMELY solid. I have not felt lacking to a real stock.
