Very good movie. 1942 set in coastal Norway. A pacifist who is a single dad with daughter is the main star and the whole town are pacifist but one leader when the Germans invade. The out spoken leader is killed, the pacifist becomes a commando until he discovers a secret air field being built, boats to England to give INTEL about the secret air field, he leads British commandos back to the air field and to retrieve his daughter. The townspeople meeting scene inside the house about 50mins into it says a lot. Then the children singing the national anthem at a German formation is priceless, felt a drop in my eye. The main battle scene was off but it is a movie. A lot of under tones in this movie. See if you know what was meant by the Stars and Strips flying high at the end.

Another movie all highschool kids should watch in history class with a Vet.

I bought it too, for about 25 cent (cents really, since it implies more than one penny, but keeping it real for younger folks who speak the new languages) from the Scholastic Book Club. Great idea to move the gold that way.

Some of those old books I maintained, but I was never able to turn my children on to them in the same way since they learn faster than I did, and prefer Ayn Rand and Martin Van Creveld.

My youngest is a staunch supporter of the latter, arguing just tonight that the Clausewitzian assumption that war is rational is simply absurd...
