Hello All,
New registrant, semi long-time lurker. I have been on and off about getting into "long guns", as most of my previous experience has been with short distances, handgun, etc. I have had some experiences here and there with DMR-type roles and responsibilities, though nothing lasting, and only really to give me a taste and increase interest.
Due to multiple variables, some more recent, I have decided to dip my toes in and place an order for a gasser - I know... Again, many factors involved here, but I have placed an order for a Larue Tactical AR10 lower, and built a 7.62 with their Ultimate Upper kit. The lower is here, the upper is a wait, which is ok for me right now. I have other preparations to make in the meantime - magazines, ammo, deciding on an optic, etc.
I know that an AR10 might not be the most conventional/traditional path to precision rifle, though I do believe that it can lay a solid foundation with applying the fundamentals, learning a new caliber, and so on. Hopefully, at some point down the line, these skills will be able to transfer over to a potential bolt gun. Time will tell. Until then, I will continue to form good habits, take notes, and learn from my mistakes.
With all of that being said, I will keep it short. I am here to learn, learn, and learn more. I enjoy doing lengthy deep-dives, researching, and hopefully contributing in a constructive manner for the rest of us here on the forums. I look forward to learning with the rest of you, and maybe even sharing some of my own experiences should they help.
