I ended up on a DPS helicopter ride to photograph a crime scene.
Neither the pilot or the co-pilot had ever heard of, let alone seen, Blue Thunder.

I went to the Midnight star in Deadwood. Walked up to the bar like Paden and asked for "the good stuff"... Blank stares were in abundance that night...
I blame that movie for a 20 year career. Couldn't fly (didn't have 20/20 vision), didn't stay in Nuke Power (can't get a waiver for something you already had a waver for). I hate when people think it was Top Gun that made me want to be a pilot, I spent a lot of time telling them about The Final Countdown.
Blue Thunder is a lot of fun. Some great helo flying. But if you REALLY want to see some great helo flying, find a copy of "Deadly Encounter". That's one of the very best helo movies I've ever seen. Not so much for the story line, but the helo flying is fantastic!

Katherine Ross. The Navy pilots said that she wouldn't give them the time of day...
I love that scene. I would have liked an alternate ending to the movie where they destroy the Japanese fleet and then go against the homeland.
Sadly... the point of the movie is that History doesn't change. ;-)

Catherine Ross always looked like someone had stuffed a cockroach up her ass.
On the bright side, the Tomcat pilots are now awesome dudes in their 60's... and Katherine Ross's tits are hanging around her knees and she looks like an un-wrapped Egyptian Mummy.
