Bro, you just described FNC. The only difference is that they are on the other side of the political spectrum. Fox and MSNBC are the same, just on opposite ends of the scale.
Since one aligns with your own political views, it feels better. They present what you are already comfortable hearing, so you perceive them as "Fair and Balanced." Your mind doesn't trigger on any of its flaws because overall, it's what you wanted to hear. The others present a world view you don't like, so your defense mechanisms catch every flaw and notice every slight bias. I assure you, others see those exact flaws and bias' in FNC. All that's perfectly natural. It's why you have different channels serving different market segments.
I try and watch all the sources. I watch FNC. I used to watch it a lot more, but it seems over the years to have become more and more extreme. I still like Chris Wallace's show, but I'll even watch Sean Hannity a bit sometimes (but I have to sedate myself first). I watch FNC, MSNBC, CNN. I read everything from National Review and Wall Street Journal to Huffington Post. One thing I've learned over the years is that every side can have little bits of the truth. If you are really honest and serious about wanting to understand the truth you'll listen to people even when you violently disagree. Sometimes, if you are honest, you'll realize that even your most hated enemy can have a valid point occasionally.
So I agree with you, you need to pick through what you are fed to pick out the truth from talking points. But I would encourage you to still challenge yourself by honestly, and fairly examining a wide range of sources, even ones that make you want to pull your hair out.
Or you can simply pick a side, move to that media source, learn all the slogans and talking points by heart, only talk with and listen to people who already exactly agree with what you have chosen to believe (your side is ALWAYS right, the other sided is ALWAYS wrong), shut your mind down and simply root for your team/tribe. (You see a lot of that around here.
