I tried doing a search but couldn’t turn up much. I am wondering if anyone has used both of these two tripods specifically, and if so how they stack up against each other in stability and usefulness. Is there anything you preferred about one over the other? This will be my first nice tripod, and I will be putting an anvil 30 on top. It will mainly be used for spotting/hunting/shooting in the backyard, and at the range. I also hope to take it to some nrl hunter/field style matches in the future.
Thanks

Hahah thanks, I’ve already emailed back and forth with him quite a few times now. Which is the main reason I’ve decided I’m 100% going with a two vets tripod. The customer service is unreal. If I could swing 2 I would probably get both, just trying to get some others opinions before I order. Thanks

I’ve become friends with him over the past 3-4 years. Great dude and his customer service is top notch. Only tripods I use!

I'm pretty sure he has a new one real close to being released. It has a smaller top/apex for easier packing in field matches. He had one or two at the Guardian match@ 7 Foxtrot in San Antonio a few weeks ago. Send him a message or call, he's a super nice fella.

Thanks for the heads up, the recon v2 looks about perfect for what I’m after.

I have a Kit and a Recon (not the new one). Been using a ballhead. The Recon is, as you would expect for larger tube diameters, noticeably more sturdy. Quality of both has been great so far. If you were primarily going to shoot at the range and competitions, the Recon is probably the way to go. For hunting and carrying around, the Kit has been more convenient. If the Kit had been available when I got the Recon, I would have gotten it first.

I picked up The Kit in Dec as I was looking for one without the bowl. It’s really lite and currently waiting for the Anvil to arrive. Personal, I would have gotten the Recon V2 if it was out for the increased weight rating while only giving up a pound to the kit. Either one would easier to carry vs the PVA Comp-40 I have now.
