In another thread there was a lot of debate, some angry, over legalizing 'drugs'. I dont want to rehash that discussion, its been around enough times. My concern is deeper than that one issue.

Most of you are pro LEO and I have every respect for out cops, at least the honorable ones, but in promoting more laws, more cops, more jail, more prisons, etc, the right is pandering to the nanny state as much as the left who wants to give the parasites everything. Let the cops take care of it. Bullshit!

Teach the citizen how to protect themselves, for muggers, from scam artists, from being hungry, etc. then expect them to carry their weight, or Darwin takes over. Police should be a last resort.

So my basic approach is that everything not specifically prohibited by the Constitution should be legal for citizens. Be that having a gun, smoking cannabis, or that 366 oz slurpy. If one misuses their liberty then they should pay the price. But for the gub'mint to prohibit anything that is not directly in violation of the C is ...well, un constitutional.

Independent citizens who take care of themselves. Thats how it was where and when I grew up in Southside Virginia. There wasnt any welfare, if a neighbors house burnt every one was there to help.

Fuck the Nanny State, from either the right or left.

    Mister Maggot, sir.....

My friend, you are using logic, intelligence, responsibility, diligence, AND dignity in your posit. To which I whole-heartedly agree. But then again, I also have to state that I've been accused by my own Pastor as having "an overly developed sense of justice."

To which, I had to retort: "you say this like it's a bad thing."

Years ago, an adage was often used, after assisting someone in some such task or another:
    "Thank you"
"Not a problem, it was the LEAST I COULD DO" (not yelling this, just emphasizing this)

Nowadays, that old adage has turned into a mantra, for nearly everyone.
Always do the least you can do.....

And it appears that also now includes thinking, and responsibility.

    Sad, that.

Thanks Sean. I do see problems or at least limitations to my thought. Im not naive, well not too much.

Should a citizen be allowed to build and atom bomb if he has the resource?

Or like an earlier post, allowed to have deadly snakes in a populated area?...That one the neighbors could sole, but the bomb...I wouldnt want some douche bag next door with that capability.

    +1

I'm fat. It's my fault. I can put the cheese burgers down, but I don't. It's not the government's job to tell me I can't have my burgers. And it's my responsibility to pay extra for my "Big and (not actually that) Tall" wardrobe, and my own healthcare premiums and costs for being a fat fuck.

Same goes for heroine. It's retarded to do, but knock yourself out. It's the user's problem.

I'm not sure about your entire premise, but I am very pro-heroin (especially when mixed with carfentanil or drano) and very anti nanny-state (like Narcan and fresh needles for junkies). Problem seems self resolving.
