HEY ! . The Native toothless & drunken File Fed, lawsuit demanding $500 million .
The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota filed a federal lawsuit Thursday demanding $500 million from five international beer manufacturers for the cost of health care, social services and child rehabilitation caused by chronic alcoholism on the reservation.

I see nothing in the article to which you linked about the state of dentition of either the plaintiffs or the defendants in the civil action. Your thread title is misleading, at best.

God forbid people admit something is their own fault. Oh noooo! The beer companies must have put the bottles in their hands and a gun to they heads and forced them to become alcoholics!

Sad part is, they will probably win the lawsuit.

It would be racist if they didn't.

Heh, don't make fun of my fellow South Dakotans that have been force fed cheap fermented barley beverages! We do our best to force feed them millions of cans a year and all you gents do is set on your ass and make fun of us

Re: The Native toothless & drunken File Fed, lawsuit

Technically they might have a case, if there is no drinking allowed in that area, yet 5 million cans of beer were sold in one year....that might lead one to believe that there is possible illegal activity taking place.

Re: The Native toothless & drunken File Fed, lawsuit

The lawsuit is ridiculous, but let us not forget the Natives were excessively susceptible to our intoxicating beverages, more-so than we were, and we, the white man, used that to 'conquer' this land which we all now enjoy, so while the lawsuit is bullshit, the gaming was not.

Re: The Native toothless & drunken File Fed, lawsuit

    Oh shit I killed myself!!!!.
Damn beer store was to close to my house!!!!!
Somebody has got to pay me!!!!
Until we let the weak die and fall away we have to deal with this crap. Sue me till hell ends but WHY is it MY problem that they get drunk and kill themselves or others ?. Health problems . NO shit !
If I get hammered and beat someone's ass it is bad on me. It cant be that I'am a fuck up and do the same shit everyday!!

The Pine Ridge reservaton is in Southern South Dakota, and borders the Nebraska state line.

I remember, about 10-12 years ago, maybe longer, at my age my mine gets a bit fuzzy, but some liquer store in Nebreaska was sued for discrimanation because the refuse to sell to Indians, the stated that policiy after they were sued by the Souix Tribe for selling to Indians who were carrying the booze back to the reservation.

This isn't new, nor is it limited to the Souix. I spent a lot of time in Western Alaska. The Eskimos have the same problems. The town of Nome is wet, most of the Villages are dry, so Eskimos "boot leg" booze back to the villages and the village elders blame Nome.

Natives like their booze, we use to do muti 10s at Salmon lake, a boy scout camp 20 miles north of Nome. Had a couple guys disapear one night, found out the hiked back to Nome, in the dead of winter and were found in the Board of Trade, drunk on their butts.

Guess I'm no different. Drunkest I have ever been was in Bethel AK and Camp Doha Kuwait, both were dry.

The larger issue isn't the failure of entitlements, which is without question, but the pathetic state of reservations and what they've done to native peoples.

The title "Native toothless & drunken" shows an obvious lack of respect for a once noble people in my opinion.

The Sioux didn't choose to live on scraps on land, we forced them into these gulags and created the despair that leads to all the destructive behavior so common to reservations.

Regardless of one's position on the lawsuit, the larger issue of how things got so chitty on reservations is what's really the root of problem.

Re: The Native toothless & drunken File Fed, lawsuit

Being i work on the res daily and there are lots and lots of good hard working people there but many that dont want to leave or work. They have been conditioned to that life style. Like a good native friend of mine said you cant help some one that does not want help. He lived his life in foster homes between times when his mom was drunk till the day she died in a car reck with him and brother and 3 sisters. Only him and 2 sisters lived as soon as he was 18 moved away from eagle butte because he knew what happens if you stay. They are no longer reqquired to stay and have every oportunity to go to college for pennys and become sucessful. what happened 100 plus years ago has no binding on what can happen today.
