Hello all!

Just joined the hide even though I have been a long time lurker. I am mainly a USPSA shooter and spend a fair bit of time on Brian's forums (I am StraightUp-OG over there). I do all my own Pistolsmithing and machine work.

I really needed to fill a hole in my safe with a precision rifle but had yet to do so. I decided to try and trade for a stick and I put up a request for trade over on BE.com and a member both here and there, M118LR, bit on the trade and now I have a new to me beast of a rifle. It is a Remmy 700 trued 308 in a AICS with a 24" Hart barrel, Vais break, Ken Farrel 20MOA base and Shilen trigger. I have a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 that is going on top until I can upgrade to a HD Razor. I just got the stick this week and I should have the TPS rings today so out to the range this weekend to "Send it"! I will post pics!

Just wanted to introduce myself and I look forward to more learning and spending of cash that this site will inevitably cause. ;)

Thanks!

Welcome fellow BENOS member!!!

Congrats on the new stick! You'll find the precision rifle side of things as exciting and addictive as shooting pistols very fast.

Keep us posted as to how your new gun does for you.

Thanks!

I can already tell it is just as big "Gear Nerd" sport but the environmental piece of the equation is most certainly new to me. I mean I have shot my fair share of rifle at 100 yards but have not the first clue on how to stack them at 800+. So this is going to be a great learning experience. And as with the BEnosvers I know this place will yield the same wealth of information.

My first! It is a great start and out to the range tomorrow! I can go to 200 on paper and 400 on the ranges steel but that will be a great introduction and to get it zero'd. Got a few boxes of Federal 168gr SMK's and plenty of time. I am only setup to reload pistol so the Federal's will have to suffice until I get setup for 308.

Well it shoots! Not bad for a first outing. This was the last group of the day. I know it should be 5 to be legit ;-) but it was the last 3 rounds in the box and I did not want to open a new one and I had been out for 2 hours or so in heat. I was also ringing the 400yrd 12x12 with good consistency.

Conditions: No wind, 102F at about 2:30pm
Distance: 200yrds

That puts it about a .5 MOA, I'm happy but there is a lot to learn and improve on.

Great shooting for your first outing! You're officially HOOKED, so might as well clear out your safe.... Where do you shoot? I suspect Usery since they have the steel, Ben Avery or PRGC, or you down in Tucson? I've been shooting LR for a little over a year and love it. Shoot with my son usually 2X per week and I've amassed some fun toys over the last year. PM me if you're in the Scottsdale area and maybe we can meet up sometime a get some good shooting in!
