It is most likely that if governments could figure out technology that would appear to have come from another world, governments would use that technology (even if it was just a special effects creation) to manipulate either the people of the country where the technology originated. An alternative is that governments would use the technology they discovered to manipulate other countries to their will.
If sentient life from other planets solved the physics issues (time/distance/gravity/impact with objects in space/radiation) necessary to allow inter galactic travel, then any weapons we have would be quite easily overcome. We should hope that the travelers are benevolent, because if they had malevolent intent, there wouldn't be all that much that we could do to stop them on a long term basis. A malevolent intergalactic traveler might want to take whatever resources this world has (minerals/water/atmosphere/food, even us as food) or to enslave the primitive peoples of this world.
It would be quite an unlikely feat if our world was able to defend against a group that had already solved things like gravity, time, distance, radiation, impact from objects in space etc.

We seemed to have come up with our stealth tech in a manner no other earthly competitor considered.

We have moved on apparently from the radical shape being the deciding factor to materials and enough shape to get the desired result.
Now it seems to be improving on computer controlled flight to perform quickly the control of surfaces that a pilot would be unable to predict or physically do.
Pilots are beginning to be the weak point as their human physiology will limit the amount of maneuvering the plane can do in order to allow the "passenger" to survive.

It would be vastly faster than that even with our current technology.
Most of the money gets poured into burn fast get there to kill other humans quickly, or just get into earth orbit etc. chemical rockets,and that's what most folks think of.
There are lots of well researched design ideas for continuous boost engines that over a decade can accelerate a craft to amazing speeds and then keep on accelerating. Throw several billion a year into researching them instead of killing each other and you'd probably find that folks could figure out a way to get to the closest stars in a lifetime and then if the boost engines get fast enough the slowing of local time extends the possibilities even further.
It's all a problem of motivation.
If everyone knew the actual planet was coming to an end in say 50 years with no hope save it & the only choice for humankind was to get off the planet, you'd probably be amazed at how fast things might just get figured out. (unless of course the governments all were governments and decided to suppress all the information and just keep everyone in the dark till it ended).
They can't be killed, only the keeper of reality can remove them from existence.

That synopsis somehow strikes a chord. What ever is presented when they finally land it will be a lie.
We have no resources that an advanced species would want. Water? They can make that. (H2O). Fossil Fuels? Not for anything they would have. Plus, we are assuming they have any interest in us at all. When was the last time any human tried to have conversations with single cell organisms? Or even ants?
Neil Degrasse said that our DNA and the Chimp DNA are 1% different. And that 1% is the difference between their evolution point and us having a Hubble Telescope and Rovers on Mars. Just imagine what another species would be like if they were another 1% higher than us? How about 10%?

Considering, by your own admission, that we know nothing about a theoretical alien species, assuming we have no resources they would want, is a pretty large flaw in your logic...
