I don't know if the link will show up but DirtD has a post in Maggie's to the effect of "Redneck rescues NG". When you go to the link take the time to read the comments. I'm not very surprised by volunteers that showed up immediately with boats, lifted trucks etc. Some were Texans and some came from several states away. These are the people from middle America, "fly over country", those that cling to their guns and bibles, etc. They didn't need to be asked. They didn't ask to be compensated and they didn't need be directed. They just showed up, figured what needed to be done and did it. I'm not taking a shot at the NG or the first responders as they have done a great job but it is their job. The volunteers are on their own time, with their own equipment and burning their own gas.
I've been watching but haven't seen a sign of an airboat, being towed by a Prius that has an Ivy Leage faculty parking sticker on the bumper. There's been no sign of lifted MBZs with Va. plates. The only thing we're going to hear from academia is that it's because of global warming. No wait, not global warming, it's now climate change. Geez, screwed up again, I forget about the professor in Florida that said Texas deserved this because they went for Trump.
The truth is that middle America is all over the country. It's populated by people who work hard, care for their families and don't have time for demonstrations, Fortunately, they show up when needed.
All of middle America is proud of Texas.
