^^^ There was a Supreme Court case called Cubby v. Compuserve... that laid out the premise that if an online service (aka social media site) is simply a conduit, then it is like a library. Exempt from issues related to content-providing, libel, etc. The independent system operators, who ran each forum were responsible for their areas. They owned their content... depending on how they regulated. But the online service was simply a conduit.

In the new era, the 'online service' has its thumb on the scale. It tips the balance. It condemns or highlights content. The FIRST TIME a service plays a role in regulating content... according to Cubby, they are a content provider. Subject to regulation and to FCC laws... and lots of other things.

I don't know what has happened to that precedent. Or if anyone even remembers it. But in the mid-1990's, as the Internet was just starting to take off, it was Writ-In-Stone for how a service provider needed to treat content. By never, ever, touching it.

Any lawyers out there who want to chime in on the current state? Or are we on SH... a group that lawyers know to steer clear of?

Not ashamed I hit a porn site every few months either but. Porn sites will turn a lot of people off. It would be cool if the NRA would host, but even then that could be a mess. I know guys that will not go to NRA.com or NRATV because they feel once they do they are now "on a list" (even though FaceBook is obviously the issue with personal privacy)

On another note. Anyone else use ClipGrab to down load youtube videos? I have a couple time but it looks like it might be time to start my personal Archives. Memory is cheap these days. Oh and fuck the cloud, Youtube is effectively the "cloud" for videos. I want a hard copy, I have read Fahrenheit 451.

Yeah I'd hate to move into the shadows, maybe it would be worth adding a video forum to the site. I think there are plenty of good channels that would benefit from a hassle free environment. Im sure It would also bring some guys into the long range world as well, although I'm not sure that would be so good as far as bringing in that crappy facebook crowed we all love.... That being said I'm thinking of ditching YouTube and Facebook all together too much waisted time and I have enough advertising in my life.

Watched the first 3 minutes. I am in a place that is loud and can't hear real well on my phone so I will watch the rest later. But he makes a statement.

"750 videos approx 10 minutes long. It would take a year to watch them all". And there is the issue. Youtube can not pre-watch every video. There is no way. What has happened is that snowflakes on a vengeance have then claimed they are offended. Youtube then bans the video based on someone's feelings. I am not sure anyone even watches it. The owner of the video then appeals and because there is no standard it is unbanned. Now that there are standards the videos will not become unbanned.
I think this is called "letting the fox run the hen house".

It is now time to go and flag en masse all videos that offend us. Lets play ball.

A larger issue is the deplatforming of any Right position, including funding sources like banks, PayPal, and crowdfunding apps like Patreon.

Like the Full30 guy says, if everyone donated a buck he could build a fully functional video platform for $150k. Great idea.

An even better idea would be for smart people to build our own alternative platforms that support free speech and welcome us.

Why some conservative rich guys haven't bought some large media outlets is beyond me? FOX is the highest rated cable network and yet they are totally cucked and milquetoast. If somebody did a major network that was further Right of those wimps I bet it would crush the competition. Purely as a business play, it seems like a no-brainer.
