Has anyone ever tried this? Saw it in Dean Michaelis book, and with the capability of rangeing to a level of 6 seconds it might be fun to use in a prairie dog town for extreme range shooting.

Re: Theodolite Rangefinding

I have a wilde T6 theo and it works really well, but if you can find one of the Wilde or Barr and Stroud arty rangefinders they are much faster and easier. I have found them to work better than a cheap laser like my leica 1200 since it is tough to tell what is actually lazed on the flat prairie unless you have power poles, fences, trees, etc. On a prairie dog town while using a theo you would have to relocate your baseline for each point you range unless they are all in line!
Good luck.

Re: Theodolite Rangefinding

I tried to make it work.... tried to follow the US Army on this one....but no.
Its too cumbersome for me.
Sorry

Afetr a week practice with 15 SF snipers we decided that it was not worth the effort.

Sorry
