I just saw this video on Instagram. I'm not saying that I like it. My curiosity has been generated. I can see some advantages and disadvantages to this set up.

I would not use this in a combat or self-defense situation because of the backlight from the screen. With animals that need dispatched at night that's a different situation.

A person can avoid a lot of eye fatigue that comes from looking through an optic with an eyepiece. With an eyepiece equipped thermal scope there is basically a small television screen an inch or two in front of your eye.

As a scanner for non-combat situations this would be great because you don't have the television close to your eye.

Then there is the fun factor of shooting suppressed handgun at night. I didn't say it was necessarily practical but just fun.

Anyway, posting it here to see what others think. Is it worth $2000?

Why not just go with a Torrey Pines Logic device? I had one a few years ago on a G17, it was fun

I could not find the "logic device." I found this instead. Is it similar? The screen appears to be much smaller which would cut down on the weight but you see less.

Looks like they(Torrey Pines) have been discontinued, but I swear lowlight had an article in here a while back talking about some news updated versions.

All depends on what kind of weight you wanna swing around!!!

You can find the Torrey Pines used occasionally. I wish I hadn’t sold mine, but then again, someone else probably uses it more than I did/would.

Here's a new one but I have my doubts. Besides, it's sold out at the moment.

At first, I thought that it might be nice for home defense. As long as the bad guys can't see you, then you have the advantage. However, the device will backlight whoever is holding it. Then again at an average home defense situation the distance is about 7 yards.

With that said, you might be better off with a traditional weapon mounted light.

Full disclosure on this video. I haven't had time to watch it fully but just skipped through it. He takes a while to get to the point. Regardless, he seems to present a lot of information.

    Bonus short video:

Feels like it would be a very limited use and too big to be practical. Fusion NV or PVS14/COTI has lots of other uses and just put an IR pointer on the pistol. Adding a COTi to your PVS14 for about the same money makes more sense to me.
