I have been using a Flir Scout tk for a little while now. It is "OK" for the price point but looking to make a step up and get something that will give me a little more clarity and perhaps range. From my experience this will positively ID a dog out to 65ish yards, elk and deer around 100. I am looking to use this for identifying coyote's and similar sized animals out to 100-150 yards. Would love to step up to the Halo/Reap category but not interested in spending that kind of $$ on this at the moment. I have some flexibility in my budget but ideally would like to be in the $1000-$1200 range. Primary use will be scanning but open/interested in something that will or can attach to a rifle. I have been reading a bunch and watching lots of reviews but looking for some "HIDE" help.

Thanks

Digital night vision is kind of in that price range, but not great once you step out past 150 yards or so.

Thermal works best for what you want, but your budget is well short of what it will take. The FLIR PTS 233 and Pulsar RXQ30V are the most budget-friendly, but plan on spending around $1,900. Even then you are giving up key things like adjustable focus.

I just purchased an AGM ASP TM25. After using one last week I was really impressed with the quality and we had no problem with detection out to several hundred yards and PID on hogs at probably 500-600 in subpar conditions.

I would try to save a little more and get something nicer, in thermal. Lots of new gear after Shot show this year.
Anything particular you think I should check out? Haven't heard of much new thermal stuff from shot-if you think there is a good mfg or product to look at I would appreciate it!

What else did you consider in that category? Any runners up you were looking at?

I plan to add a rxq30v as well this fall for my gun. A guy I know has ran a lot of thermals and recommended the AGM for the price. After running one for a few hours I was sold. I was able to run it next to some Atn’s but I’m unsure of the models. Both worked well and detection was never an issue.

Awesome thanks for the input! I will take a look at the AGM's.
