Night Vision Thermal optics getting cheaper?

seeing how technology gets cheaper with time, does this apply to thermal optics over the last few years?
i would like to purchase thermal eventually, but being how expensive some of these units are, maybe they'll be cheaper in a few years? I don't want to spend $5k on one and have it be worth $3k in a few years and $1k in five plus for example.

in the meantime I have pvs 14 for pest eradication, but having thermal would probably make the job a bit easier.

anyone have a gage of how prices have been fluctuating with units?

Depreciation is a bitch.. wish my vehicles would never loose value either.

That's why I don't spend a ton of money on cars.

bottom line, if I buy it and used, shoot it twice a year, and that thing becomes almost worthless and obselete in 5-10 years, than I'll probably pass for now. I wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost, and depreciation.
