Us in communist states have to carry illegally but I determined that my family was always worth the stretch in prison if caught. Never felt paranoid as the reason for carrying, just didn't want to be one of those suckers abiding by the illegal laws of douche bags which would leave you and your family helpless if one day you found yourself facing another who had a weapon hell bent on harming my family.
I took the Utah Course a few years back so I wouldn't be a Felon in every state.After taking the course I was lucky to have never stepped in to save anyone if the opportunity presented itself as I would of been arrested and sent through the justice system and possible lose everything I have.Instructor said if he was in a store or mall and the shit went down he was out the door with his family unless cornered.

A few years ago me and a buddy was camping deep in the Francis Marion National Forest probably at least 5-7 miles from the paved road and even the paved road is pretty isolated and in an area that doesn't get traveled much. Two other friends were meating us the next day because they couldn't get off work in time to make it the first night any way we were drinking a few beers around the campfire and it was about 2am and we see headlights off in the distance way down the road they were coming our way we thought ok our buddies must have decided to go ahead and come that night instead of waiting the next day or maybe a forest ranger. This truck pulls up about 100yds away and we knew it wasn't our friends or a Forest ranger and the truck just sits there for about 10-15 min with the engine running and the headlights on. So we start thinking ok this is a little strange who the hell is that and most importantly what do they want I had my 45 on me so I was prepared. Finally this guy gets out the truck and comes to our campsite and just starts making small talk like what's going on? how long are we camping? are we fishing? who else is coming? It got a little weird we asked what he was doing and why he was coming out here in the middle of the night he says "oh I just like to come up here and see whos camping" I was like at 2am? I said man that's a good way to get shot. He said he didn't realize how late it was and was like well sorry I didn't mean to bother y'all and ended up leaving. Well lets just say I didn't get any sleep the rest of the night and to this day I am still not sure what that guys intentions were and why he was at a campsite in the middle of nowhere at 2am. I told my friend this why I will always have a gun on me even in the middle of nowhere at 2am.

My favorite part of the movie was when Lewis Medlock uses a recurve bow to take out the butthole bandit. I have always recommended the learning of bow usage and shooting as a supplement to firearms.
